I used to think the same thing. I deadlifted about 150 lbs less then too.

I have an article to dig up somewhere... give me a couple of minutes.

cheese....... cuthy is right, i may have never explained it well. i line up what is the knuckle joint of my big toe under the bar, then i pull it too me, up my shins.

i hope that makes sense.

I seemed to get stronger when I Deaded closer to the bar. Different strokes for different folks.

Different body types require different types of deadlifting... to each his own, but i prefer optimum :)
