Periodization

I want to try this routine :

For 4-6 weeks:

4 days / week
2 upper + 2 lower body WO
High intensity, low reps / set
sets of 2-5 reps
Very close to failure of the last set
ie 5 exercises 6 sets of 3

For 1-2 weeks:

4 days / week
2 upper + 2 lower body WO
Low/moderate intensity, high reps / set
sets of 10-15 reps
No failure
ie 5 exercises 5 sets of 12

For both : around 60-75 minutes WO
and 1 to 1min30 rest between sets

What do you think ?

I'm sure you all have something interesting to say about this routine.... :)

Looks interesting, I may have to try that after 5x5. Seen lots of routines like it before, just have never tried them and I am always up for something new.

sounds interesting

but,... where exactly is the periodization? this is in no way a cynical question

i'm no periodization guru, but it would be helpful to specify your program

on which % do you plan on starting in the first 4-6 weeks?
do you plan on starting with a percentage based upon your 5rep max or your 1rep max?
do you plan on increasing your 5 rep max or you one rep max?
are you planning to increase the % of the weight used weekly? if the answer is yes, do you plan on upping the % while decreasing the reps - which would basically be a typical western periodization program - with the goal of hitting a new personal 5rep max / 1 rep max best?

Looks good, I say try it. Only thing you may want to consider is increasing the rest time between sets during the "low reps/sets" phase of the routine.
