First - calories matter. The laws of thermodynamics apply. No matter what type of diet you are following - keto, carb cycling etc, - if you are eating more calories then you burn off, you won't loose weight.

Flax seed oil is very high in calories. If you are looking to cut, I personally would supplement with fish oil instead. You get the same essential omega 3 fatty acids that way, but with much less calories.

The best thing you can do to minimize muscle loss on keto is to follow a high protein diet. Supplementing with BCAA will also help. The branch chained amino acid L-leucine directly signals protein synthesis through the mtor pathway. The branch chained amino acids are also extremely anti-catabolic which makes them great to take before cardio, especially when doing fasted cardio.

Just make sure to read the ingredients carefully because a lot of the flavoured BCAA products on the market have a lot of added sugar and carbohydrates per serving. This will blunt the fat loss response that you would of gotten from the cardio other wise. I personally use the capsulated BCAA product gear from n2bm.com.
