Cooking brown rice

I know this is borderline retarded but how does everyone cook thier brown rice so that it doesnt come out either overcooked like oatmeal or undercooked and still hard. Looking for times and amount of water for one dry cup of rice. Id rather make it every other day then have it sitting in the fridge for a few days.

Thanks in advance.

I use the Instant Brown Rice that comes in the bag...

I put the bag into the water immediately, wait for it to come to a boil, then set the timer for 9 minutes.

I just do 1 cup rice to 2+cups h2o (I'm at high altitude), bring it all to a boil, cover it, and cook it on low for around 45 minutes. I never use instant anything, it doesn't have the same amount of nutrients and fiber as slow cooked rice or oatmeal.

Rice cooker, totally worth the investment. I always either undercooked it or burnt the hell out of it on the stove.

I used 2 cups brown rice to about 5.5 cups water (that's my cooker). I like to mix up the varieties, get brown, dark brown, mahogany, wild, good stuff.

I agree........rice cooker is the way to go.....I use 2 parts of water to 1 part of rice (how my cooker works)......
