That's how I plan to do it when I compete next spring. You built the muascle you have with heavy training and I find personally that it helps me build more quicker, maintain more while dieting, and even burn fat better when combined with cardio. You may even want to try doing a low rep, heavy set to start of like 3-5 reps and then superset it with a lighter exercise. You follow? That way, you get the heavy weight in and also burn the extra calories you do with higher reps.
