Don't get so excited. Now 365 will loom large in your future. Next year you will be rasslin with that one. Enjoy this victory. Good job, Satchmo. Glad to see you finally got it.

Congrats bro...your first 3 plate experience is like loosing your virginity...something you never forget :)

I remember when i first started working out....i started with 20 lbs on each side....and still the bar was shaking so bad.... A few weeks later i felt like superman...and was an idiot....loaded up 2 plates....thank god i was training with an experienced bb who knew i wouldnt be able to do it....i tried even though he told me i would kill myself.....lifted the bar off...screamed...and it went straight down to my chest...lmfao.......i coudnt even control it on 1 rep down.......thankfully my partner grabed it and let me squeeze out of there.

Its a good feeling bro when you get up there. I dont like to do anything over 2.25 plates on the bench though. Its a killer for the shoulders...the movement is controled and gives no natural motion. I remember i was on a cycle and VERY strong.....trying to do about 4 reps very heavy......i fucked up my rotator cuff by trying to overextend.

Now i rather take a adjustable bench.....take some dumbells above 120 lbs and push it out if i feel crazy. Granted its not as much fun and is not as impresive for others to see...but then again i could give a rats ass about others.....what i care is about my rotator cuff health.

fuck yeah baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

did it for 2 reps CLEAN!!!

when i got to the gym, the efedrine was kicked in hardcore.
i was walkin around like a madman for a few minutes before i placed my towel on the bench.

warmed up with just the bar for 2 sets of about 20 reps.. get the joints ready for action.

now mind you the gym i work out at isnt hardcore.
at 215 pounds i'm out of the heaviest guys there.. pretty funny i must admit.
if a quadsweep or radar walked in there the place would be in shock.. lol

so when i loaded 3 plates, seemed like half the fags there were staring thinking "is this dude gonna seriously do this".

i had a spotter...
cool trainer there that always spots me on chest day.

i told him im a little scared..
he pumped me up saying i'm a piece of shit fag if i cant lift that for at least a rep.

with hands on the bar, i closed my eyes for about 20 seconds..
i was locked in and ready!!!

took the bar off the rests and right away knew i can squeeze 1 rep.
all the way down to my chest and clean up.. back flat all the way through.
didnt cheat at all!

ok i had 1 rep completed and i was done.. but not so fast.
i felt i had one more in me and surely another clean rep went up.

that was it.
i held the 2nd rep in the full contraction position for about 10 seconds and parked it.

today is one of the best days in my life!
im' so fukcin excited right now you have no idea!!!!!!
a

Good job my man!

First congrats!!

A bit of advice from an oldman.

20 years ago on a down set with 315 for 15, after working up to 505 for a single I blew my right pec. No surgery available back then. End of BB career!

Be careful! Remember always what your true goals are. I don't believe most of us want to be powerlifters. My advice, any set under 6 reps is too much of an injury risk.

Good luck!

Oldman.....was it you rotator or pec.....

I guess thru your experience you would advise us young guys not to go heavy on bench and do dumbells instead?

I am in full agreement. A couple of months ago, I had the ability to get 315 for 15, and really started to question my desire to go over 400 pounds on the bench press. An aching left shoulder now impedes my bodybuilding process on a daily basis. I am currently in the middle of a heavy cycle, and am seriously considering cutting it short due to the pain I'm in. Bottom line: Don't let your ego cloud your visions of actual goals.
