Is omega3s found in tuna destroyed by heat ?

>>> does the process (cooking tuna cans) alters EFAs ?

No tuna specialist to answer :spin: ???

The Omega 3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids found in cooked tuna and other seafood are what you need.

The "long chain" omega 3's are only found in seafood. The Omega 3's from other sources must be converted via enzyme's into long chain form to be effective.

I still think tuna is best when its still alive and pulling for all its
worth to get away.
:D

ehm you could eat tuna for efa's but ehm 100 grams of tuna has like 1.5 grams of fat :D so ehm you would have to eat like a kilogram of the stuf. But omg that would be 400 grams of prot!!!!! yeah im gonna try that :D

_jaap_:

That is true of canned tuna but if he were to eat tuna steaks there are fattier versions of tuna then in the cans

Jaap....you have twice as many posts as me and your still trying to make me look like......whatever it was that you made me look like before:(

100 grams is 3.7 ounces of tuna (one small can?) at 1.5 grams of omega 3 long chain polyunsaturated essential fatty acids (how do you squeeze all that into 1.5 grams)

Now i know i could eat 300 grams of tuna and still be hungry and you are saying I just got 4 1/2 grams of Omega 3's (yeah) but my question to you is.

How much protien did I just get?

ah dit know that w, still i think that when trying to get in efa's its better to jsut eat fatty fish are oils. Cause even though fresh tuna is a little fattier it wont be real fat at least i think so.

and guys please dont take ANY of my posts as flames or as attempts to make anyone look bad. It's just that my english sucks and my tone in my posts could be off without me nothecing it. Man see i cant even spell.

JayBro im not trying to make you look bad man, your my god. *me gets on knees, and starts kissing the floor*:D:D

If i remember correctly, and i could be wrong my can says per 100grams 23 grams of prot 0 carbs 1.5 grams of fat. Those 1.5 grams are not all poly unsaturated ones and im to lazy to look up the ratios :p. So ehm after eating 300 grams that would be 69 grams of prot. anyway i could be off with the numbers just look then up at one of the excellent sites that have been posted here.

Anyway i love you all bro's i never flame i love you ALL :D

Jaap,

I was just foolin about....you know having a laugh.

I did just read that cod liver oil which has vitamin A and D is also high in long chain omega 3's

do you get icelandic cod fish in the netherlands?

all we have left in america is its cousin the pollack.

hehe ok then, i just wasnt sure if you were kidding or not, use some smilies nex time :D

Actually i do think we still have cod over here, well that is if my translation is correct. My english is good enough when it comes to common phrases but when it comes to translating some food specific terms im usually at a loss. Anyway if another dutchie picks up on this, cod=kabeljauw right?

But i cant imagine that you guys cant get any cod anymore.
