benching Woes.. missed my goal :(

Here's how it went..

45 x 6, 135 x 3, 165 x 3, 195 x 1 **shirt on **
235 x 3 didnt touch
255 x 1 didnt touch
275 x 1 touched, went up smooth
295 x 1 touched, went up super smooth
305 x miss. had it going, and it started to slow, and my spotter thought i was losing it so he put his hands on it..

damn 305

finished off the workout with light 4 boards and did 235 x 3 for a few sets, and then dropped to 2 boards and did
195 x 6, 195 x 8, 195 x 6

Im beat

BW - 155ish

Goal was 300 by the end of the year, and this was my first attempt over 300 on a full range bench....

you probably had 305. you know 300 is yours. try it again sometime. i'm sure you have it. then on to 3 plates

I was hoping to break into the 300 range by summer...but at 240 now and at a major plateau, don't think I'm gonna make it.

That 305 is yours soon bro, keep training hard!
 
keep trying! i got a few people trying to keep my spirits up about hitting 205, which i've tried twice so far.

205 is an estimate of what i can do. started lifting a few months ago and couldn't finish 3 sets of 125 10x. i could put up 145 maybe 5-6 times for one set, 2-3x the next set, and this was after a few weeks of lifting. then tried 165, 5lbs over my body weight, and couldn't put it up. did nothing but pyramid dumbbell work for 2 months, then....

attempted 165 and threw it up like it was nothing. 1 rep.
then 175 3x
then 185 3x and was worn out, and i had done chest the day before.

last week did dumbbell pyramids with the 4th set being heavy barbell negatives. when i finally got to the decline bench (incline and flat bench sets first), i actually put 185 up 3x on my own before needing assistance for the last 2.

next week is probably my last week in the gym on campus til next semester. hopefully my dad forks over his weight bench and weights so i can keep lifting over xmas...don't have the $$$ to buy the stuff right now.

tomorrow is chest day. i'm attempting 195 tomorrow. if i do it, next week, i'll make 2 attempts at 205, that is, if i don't get it the first time. i'll get there soon and i know it.

keep pushing! you'll get there!
