WHY IS 6G THE MAGIC # BRO?
I'm the guy who suggested to gUiLe to do 6grams/day (especially on workout days) since that's what I've been doing and getting amazing results. I'm also the first guy to do mass quantities of ALA and wanted to share my results with everyone. I have no supplements to sell, or books to peddle. I simply did this because it was too good not to share.
I upped my intake to 6g/day because I'm bulking up. My rule was, and still is, to take 1200-1500mg ALA per average meal. I'm eating more meals, so the total per day goes up.
I was hoping that it would minimize my fat gain as I bulked. Guess what? Not only did I not gain any fat while increasing my weight by approx 8 lbs in the last month. I actually lost about a 1.5lb of fat!
At the start of bulking phase I was about 178lbs at 4.2%.
I am now 186.5lbs at 3.5%bf (on a good non-bloated day, otherwise my calipers say 3.8%bf)
6gms is not the magic #, what is the magic number is roughly 1200-1500mg ALA per meal. If you have 4 meals then that's 6gms/day if you have 3 it's 3.5g/day.
ALA's half life is incredibly short (30 minutes). This means that in half an hour after it gets in your blood stream, half of it has been eliminated. Half an hour later half of that has been eliminated.
So for example, if you have taken 1200mg, 30 minutes later there will be 600mg of ALA in your system. 30 minutes after that 300mg ALA left in your blood stream. 30 minutes after that there's only 150mg ALA left in your system., Assuming that the digestive process takes roughly 90 minutes to digest a carb/protein rich meal, there must be a minimum amount of ALA needed in your blood stream, so that ALA can do its insulin sensitivty thing. I've calculated that to be roughly 200mg.
If someone comes up with a modified ALA, which has a longer half life (for example 2hours) once could take only 300-600mg of that ALA and probably get the same effects as 1500 of shortlived ALA.
This is just my opinion. I got to this number thru trial and error, seeing which amounts give the best results.
I have done various androgens before, as well as the typical fat loss aids, and get predictable results when using those items alone. But, when I add ALA to that mix, I get the most amazing results I have ever gotten.
I've been juicing for 2 years, eventually doing test at the 2g+/week level, and never, ever looked as good as I do now with slightly less test (900mg/week) by just adding ALA. The increased ALA induced insulin sensitivity really helps you get the best/most out of juice. This is a lot liking adding insulin to your cycle, but without the bad sides, such as coma, death or worse getting fat.
