Tattoos and muscle

Couldn't decide which forum would be most appropriate for this question so sorry to those who wanna bitch about it.

I have an appointment this saturday for my first and probably the only tattoo I will ever get, a US Navy anchor on my mid-upper arm to shoulder. Well, it just occured to me that it might take away from the muscle appearance of my arm. Do you guys think it affect how the medial head of the "horseshoe" of my triceps stands out? Or the deltoid upper arm tie-ins? I want the tattoo but, at the same time, my arms are my best bodypart and I don't want to dull the muscle separations or more importantly the depth and curves.

Do upper arm tattoos have that effect?

dude dont worry about it, i have a tatt on my shoulder and it looks fine, and the anchor is not gonna cover a whole lot, mine is a giant black circle and it looks fine, so get er done if you want it, dont let the fact that it may make the muscle seperation less defined stop you if u really want it.

WOW, how old are you? You mind me asking, you in the Navy?

33. Yes, been in the Navy 8 years now.

Someone do me a favor here and enlighten me because I don't get it. What the hell is shocking or odd about the question? By Radar's response I'm guessing it is my choice of tattoo. Do the cool kids frown on anchors nowadays? And, if so, what about Marine tattoos because I've spent at least half my time with the green side. Still don't think I earned the right to a Marine tat though and wouldn't want one as I'm proud to wear my Navy's anchor. I've earned it and don't give a f### if a civilian thinks its tacky. I'll wear it with pride. Nonetheless, I'm still curious if this is why some of you are giving me shit.

a good tattoo artist will find a way to contour the design along your muscle.

Props for all your service man. I think what people are saying is, to put it bluntly, you're crying over nothing. Meaning its not like you're getting your arm sleeved in tatts, its just an anchor and you're worried about it impeding your muscle definition. Just get it and don't worry about it.

Captain FT hit the nail right on the head!!

Respect for the service man I was more like 'just get the tat if you want it'

Plus unless your an amputee you'll always be able to flex your opposite bad boy
