Just found out a friend of mine got attacked by a dog

Usually dogs are trained, so if you say in a loud voice and give it a verbal command sometimes the dog will respond and be obedient. Otherwise your best bet is to give it your arm and shove it all the way in the mouth so it can't clamp down and then finish it.

decem - If that dog attacked someone within one month of being in a home, it will do it agina. You can't reason with an animal and tell it it did a bad thing and should never do it again. In the dog's eyes, it felt the need, for whatever reason, to attack. Since it was unhurt and accomplished it's goal of wounding it's target, it will be bolder in it's next attack. Do you want that attack to be on you or your kids. The animal needs to be put down for public safety. If the law won't do it, I will. I wouldn't enjoy it. I wouldn't look forward to it. But it has to be done. Get off your high horse.

if you have the right to kill the animal.. then i have just as much right to go back and kill the breeder and the previous owner.. if you'd like me to spell out why.. then fine.. i will.. but you're at least somewhat open-minded.. and i'm sure you understand this concept.. therefore.. i'm pretty sure i don't have to..

and btw.. my horse is a short shit.. only about 15'2 or 15'3 hands tall..

decem - I realize that the previous owner bears much of the blame for this. But the simple fact is that it's not possible to punish them for this act. At this point, the animal is a danger and must be killed.

Also, I think much of the blame goes for the particular mix of breeds. I've seen several instances where a certain mixture of breed creates a dog that is at odds with it's instincts. I dated a girl who had a Chow/German Shepard mix (I think). Anyway, the dog was aggressive and dominant like a Chow is bred for (pack dog) and highly protective like a German Shepard is bred for. It's not a good mix. The dog is very aggressive towards men it doesn't know. It's only a matter of time before that dog bites someone.

why isn't it possible?? it can NOT be that hard to track down the breeder and the previous owner of the dog.. and IF you kill the dog.. you MUST also kill the breeder and owner.. it's only right.. plus.. that's only one dog.. if you don't kill the breeder and previous owner.. then they could wind up putting thousands of viscous dogs out on the streets before it's all said and done..

kill the human.. not the animal..

btw.. no i'm not serious about killing the owner and breeder.. as i'm against killling anything at all.. i'm really only serious about NOT killing the dog.. but must use the killing the owner and breeder to emphasize my point..

as for the mix of breeds and their resulting in more aggressive animals.. i disagree with you completely.. it's not the breed.. it's how it's raised and trained.. and again.. even if this really were the case.. the fault again lies with the human being that plays mother nature and breeds the dogs.. not the dogs themselves.. so if that chow/shepherd mix does indeed hurt someone.. go kill the breeder and owner.. and not the dog..

Many times a dog will bite because a person does'nt understand what the dog is telling that person "reading it's posture , body language" Anyone who has been around dogs knows what to look for ears back with no tail wag, staring you down eye to eye. etc. You need to establish yourself as the top dog. Thing is a dog is a pack animal and like any pack animal it needs to know where it fits in. if you or any other person look weak to the animal it will test you by subtle means at first then gradually keep pushing it. This is why many times a dog will listen the the man but totally disobey the woman "he respects the man as the alpha in the pack" Bottom line more people get bit by dogs ue to their own actions. Cornering a dog or getting too close when the dog is doin all it knows to tell you to back off. Sad thing is this dog will be destroyed due to the actions of people. Not the girl but what the dog was taught of people by the previous onwer. Just sucks all ways

who's gonna care for a dangerous animal

send it to the shelter, arrange for them to pick it up and let them decide.....they may be able to shelter it, or depending on the severity of the attack, kill it :(
