G5.0 vs. Gravity: The Neurotic Ramblings of a Man on a Mission

I hate fish oil - I get those nasty salmon burps without the pleasure of having eaten salmon beforehand. I think I'll just start buying salmon now that grilling season is here.

Fish oil is probably better

Yeah, the body's conversion of ALA, the type of omega-3 in flax, to EPA/DHA is very inefficient. Fish oil is already EPA/DHA. I'd say go with fish oil caps for your baseline omega-3 intake and consider anything from flax a bonus. Enteric coating supposedly helps with the burps.

Also, if you get flax oil, don't use it for high-temperature cooking; the heat damages the EFAs.

I am a fan of the chondroitin sulfate/glucosamine complex. I buy it cheaply from Sam's. I have also heard of just taking a jello packet (sugar free), dumping it in water, and "shooting" it to get the same results.

Phase One: WSB
Week 2 -- Friday

DE Box Squats
warmups, then 8 doubles @ 255 + knotted purples

-Felt good. I could definitey feel the bands with this weight. In fact, I may not need to knot the bands once the bar weight goes up again. We'll see.

DE Deads
Three singles @ 315

-Easy. I think these will be good for me because I sorely need to work on explosively pulling the barbell.

Front Squats
warmups, 275x3x5

-Tougher than I'd have liked, but no trouble really. It seems that sometimes the lighter weights feel heavier than the heavy weights :p

Then I did a light set of Oly squats, and two sets of 15 reps on GMs. It got me loosened up before leaving.

do more singles for your DE deads. get at least 6-8. 315 is a good weight for the DE deads. Really concentrate on pullin the shit out of the bar.

not sure how much rest your are getting between sets (on your DE squats and Deads) but really try to hone in on 30 seconds. it may seem like a lot of time, but it actually isn't. Once you get to your 5th+ set, you will be just catching your breath, and its time to pull or squat again. this should be a brutal workout (not weight wise.) you should be out of breath by the time you get done with them.

Agreed, more and fast. I've flown up with fast deads sometimes that I've hit myself in the nuts with the bar.

I took a look at Higher, Faster Sports the other day. They seem to have added a few extra articles. At least, there are some there I don't recall relating to explosiveness. The two on understanding muscle fiber are interesting and offer some theory behind explosive training and how it pertains to muscle fiber development.

Ill: Alright. I'm not timing rest, but I'm definitley right around 30-45 seconds. I was soaked by the time I finished the squats. And I like the idea of doing more deads :).
