G5.0 vs. Gravity: The Neurotic Ramblings of a Man on a Mission

Good luck with everything G5.0, in and out of the gym. I'm sure you'll be the strongest guy at your new company ;)

I'm kinda excited because I think my new focus on grip'n'rip, explosion and 'shoulder pull' will be worth a few pounds.

I thought you were already grippin and rippin. Well you looked pretty fast too me IIRC. Thinking the band work is paying off already?

ww and G5.0 need to type "fish oil", "omega 3" or variants thereof into PubMed, browse the studies a bit, and suck it up and take their fish oil. ;)

Suck it up, huh? Wow, you sound just like the boys i work out with. no girl-y stuff allowed over here, huh?

I take an Omega 3-6-9 pill 2 or 3x daily. I don't like it, but I take it. So :p

Phase One: WSB
Week 3 -- Monday

Good workout today.

ME Deadlifts

warmed up with RDL with the bar, then with 135, then power cleans with 135, 185, and 225. Then DL triples with 275 and 315
Singles: 365, 405, 455, 455, 455

-All done with a mixed grip once I got to the singles. I've never pulled this heavy w/out straps so I'm glad that there were no grip issues whatsoever. All the reps @ 455 felt good. The third one was certainly more difficult/slow than the first, but I suppose that's to be expected. My rest times weren't all that long (relative to singles, anyway - prob. 4-5 minutes at a guess). My slow point has most definitely moved up, so I think the explosion is helping, as are the box squats.

RDLs
couple warmups, 365x5x3

-Not too tough. I'm not sure what I'll do next week. Based on how today went I don't think I'll need to sub these out. I'd like to get some sort of PR on these if possible, so I'd have to pyramid - I've done 405 for 5x5 in the past and I certainly don't want to use that much volume after heavy deads. I'll have to consult my past journals to see what my best set of 5 has been...

Prehab
RDL: 135x15
ATF Squat; 135x12
Seated one-leg hamstring stretch (where one leg is out and the other is 'Indian style').
'Cat stretch' - I got on all fours and rolled my spine up, walking my fingers back and holding for a good 15 or so seconds. Did it a couple of times and it felt really good.

I really, really like deadlifting :) I'm excited for next week but I'm not going to set up any sort of expectations or predictions, other than a fresh PR.

Excellent stuff, G5.0! It's like watching a monster in the making, reading this :)

Not taking one of the few supplements worth a damn because of something as trivial as "fish burps" strikes me as foolish, not girlish. Would you have preferred a more lengthy equivalent of "suck it up" along the lines of "endure the unpleasantness"?

Anyway, sorry to turn this into a fish oil thread, G5.0. To get back to the reason I intially brought it up, joint pain, I finally decided to give CostCo's Glucosamine/Chondroitin a try and must say I'm impressed. I know you said it didn't do much for you, but I just figured I'd weigh in with nelms in its favor.

Good luck with that deads PR and the possible move to MI!

Phase One: WSB
Week 3 -- Wednesday

ME Push-Press
did LOTS of warming up with light OHP, OH squats, windmills/laterals w/ 10 lb plates, then:
Triples: 185, 185, 205
Singles: 225, 235, 235, 235

-235 is 90% of 1rm. These were all fairly easy (for 90%) but I kinda lost my balance on the second single w/ 235. On the last one I held it overhead for a solid 5 seconds, which was especially fun because some guy was Smith benching next to me (I am such a loser :p).

CGBP
5's @ 185, 225, 275, 295, then a triple @ 315

-My right elbow is still being a little bastard. Three wheels on these is usually something I do multiple sets of 5 with. On the second rep of the triple the bar went up slower on the right than the left, but the third rep was fine. I didn't want to push my luck so I racked it. Not sure if a fourth would have gone up had I attempted it.

BB rows
**forgot to do them**

-Massive brain fart here

Decline situps

BWx20x2

Prehab
Set of 35 tricep pushdowns followed by set of 30 bb curls w/ 50 pound bar, then two light sets of Oly squats just to get some blood flowin' in my legs/hips.

So not a bad day at all considering some of the joint issues I've been having - shoulders felt fine and the elbow wasn't awful or anything. I'm not so sure that skipping the rows is gonna be a big deal either.

Thanks guys, but CGBP is a disappointment really - I've done 315 for 8 on close grips, though AAS was flowin' at the time. Well after the cycle I did 325 for 5, so I'm not real happy about this setback. Again, it could be worse but I HATE regressing.

On a happier note, I think I'm a week away from a P-P PR, so it's not all bad :)
