*Bunny* has lost her mind...

Thank you Sassy. I do NOT like the way my shoulders look when I try to 'pose' .. they have SO MUCH more potential in that are being my strong point, they look flat and deflated. They are NOT either. Posing is def. going to be the hard part for me.

I think you have the start of a good rear pose in the pic w/ your hair in the left corner -- I don't think you need to do much of anything except stand there - your delts & lats have the size & V already. I would be real careful about sticking my elbows out too far or spending too much time trying to do a contrived pose - I think you have the size & shape just fine. When I did my little period fo time prepping for figure I was told to relax my shoulders just to get the stance right. Anythign more looked more like BB. Frankly that may be part of the challenge is to look less BB & more figure...

lol Yup I was just standing there :) Thank you for the post Sassy. I need to flip through some sites for poses ... you have a few in your RTC sticky (ready to compete) :)

I want nothing more but to look as natural as I can on that stage.

I can only flex my calves hard for a few seconds. Then they start cramping. It's actually funny to watch ,cause you can see all the muscles rippling underneath, like an Earthquake.
I SO know what you mean... it's SUCH a pain.

Check this link from the 2006 Jr Nationals - I still think this was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Its fairly recent so will show the "look" they are going for this year ( ) --- its not as hard as last yr, but I'd still show up w/ a 6 pack and some nice cuts. Probably move away from size but more cut, but no 'hard'.

Anyway - there are fantastic pix under the Figure category:

Great link Sass thank you Feel free to post what NOT to do when posing if you or anyone else ever feels like it :) What's with the hands on these girls? Are you suppose to keep them together or flare out your fingers? Both look un'natural' to me ...

On the side poses, some girls and looking straight ahead, while a few sneak in the turn at the waist ... is the shoulder facing the audience suppose to be pulled back some to get a peak at the chest?

:) :D

I'd keep the fingers probably closer together- graceful, not stiff. Flared - probably not. Again there's no "perfect" way to do it but rather what you wear well & are able to present comfortably.

If you look thru the pix there are two different sets of stances - the comparison round is where you want to do the face the side -- you'll see that in just about all of them. You will see a whole bunch of different postures -I'd say look & see which one looks the best to you. You can tell who looks like they are hunched up and uncomfortable so that should give you a good idea of what is "good". And then see how it looks on you.

The individual pictures w/ the more "model" poses -- that is more for the individual rounds where you are the one on stage as well as the stance you would hold while you are in the line up on the sides while other people are lined up - make sure you are graceful, smiling, eye contact to the audience & all teh judges even while you are in the background. Make sure you are facing the judges -- for ex if you are positioned on the right side of the stage (judge's right side) make sure you have the largest face of your body facing them & not turned away.

On the rear poses on the comparison sometimes it looks like the girl is leaning forward some to hide any butt folds & such - but then you can also see them do it from the side poses which IMO just looks weird - you can see that in some of the side poses as well. I'm open for anyone else to make a comment, but even tho they are trying to hide the butt folds or whatever, it just looks weird on the side.

For the most part all of these girls know how to pose, but you can go thru them all see what looks the most natural & comfortable to you and then look specifically at the girls who won their classes to see what they do. Granted they may not have the same body type as you but it gives an idea of what "stands out" in this show.

It looks to me like Figure may be the hardest to prepare for since you cant exactly just train and diet as hard as possible, say like the BB's. Seems like the difference between the winners and NP's is all size and cut - some that did not place are soft, but some were pretty ripped - I am guessing too ripped???

Yes AL it is possible to be too ripped for Figure.

Buns I think a black suit with lots of stones would look great, I was actually thinking of doing black for my next suit, the 1 thing about a black suit though, it needs looks of stones, so you don't blend in with the background, which usually is black.

As well as having it stand out against the protan....

Figure gets weirder & weirder as at the top levels you will still find ripped up girls, or probably more so in the fitness divisions. But there's this whole undefined movement towards "softer" which still brings back the balance between being lean but not too hard, but not too squishy either. The Jr Nationals is really one of the top competitions so you are getting the cream of the crop and some of them are definitely built just short of a BB. This year that counted against them - last year they probably would've been your class winners.
