Here are some pics that I took this morning after I got out of the shower. I didn't leave out the wheels, just didn't take any shots of the quads & hams that were 'postable'.

I am posting B & W's so you can better see my muscle. The color are VERY washed out since I am SO pale, I didn't want to adjust to 'color' so I simply removed it.

I'll get some leg shots (front & back) soon.

Ahh whatever I'll post both color & BW...

Glad my request for those hammie pictures was answered :lmao:
And ahhh yes, my fellow soccer player, definately got some "soccer" player quads I see! ;) Very nice, muscular base as well!!! You got this eassssssssy!

This side is nice n' quiet, so I'll post here. Buns, you have an incredible physique already and only have a little bit of tweaking to do. Your back already has the V-shape and to my untrained eye, I don't see anything out of symmetry. As for your calves, they are there, just need to hit them heavy. I find doing donkey calf raises work wonders for making the "ice cream" (top of calf) pop out and seated calf raises makes the "cone" (bottom of calf) pop out. Also, practicing walking in hooker heels will help build up the calf muscles.

Congratulations on your decision! You will do great!
:)

Dear beauteous Bunny!!! OMG, I go on vacation and look at the shit I miss!!!

You will so TOTALLY kick ass, take names and own that stage!!!

you look great - with a tan you are going to look so wonderful right now!

only area that jumped out at me is the glute/ham tie in - need more separation there.

I ain't sweatin' nuttin - just the lean down - you've got all the parts & the muscle - just get the lean down, get the abage going and make sure your top to bottom symmetry is good - that's probably the one place I'd pay the most attention to because the rest we've already seen how it comes out :) And that's me being picky too. The posing will also help towards that so you will want to first get comfortable w/ the basic posing and then tweak it as you lean down to show off the best cuts, balance anything that's not optimal and just to get it to look natural on you.

Hopefully you can get some ideas. I think your twinny had her first suit designed through this service actually, but I'm sure you can find similar styles locally as well.

Actually no PassionFruit was my second suit, the red suit I wore this year.

The 1st one the green one last year was by Sylvia Tremblay.

So happy you finally decided to compete twinny, I see what I can do to come see you.

Hey DG thank you for the reply :rose:

Suggestions are welcome to add on to this. Off the top of my head Leg day 1 will be more quad focus...Front squats (if I dont fall over), Leg Press, Leg Extension (single leg focus as well), Side Lunge, Sissy Squats etc

Glutes & hams will consists of Weighted Walking Lunges, Weighted Steps Ups, ATF Squats, Reverse Lunges (again if I don't fall over lol) SLDL, Leg Curls (prone and/or standing single leg option), Hypers, possible Good mornings, Hamstring Raise (glute hamraise... These I feel helped before, but I did them with hypers about 2 X a week)

I am not listing everything so anyone, please feel free to throw something else in the mix.

Thank you again for the support Daisy.

Thank you girl :D Calves are VERY tough for me to get to pop out. I've done the once a week NOTHING, adjusted cardio to be done on my toes NOTHING, It was after I added in 2-3 times a week SOMETHING popped out at me and I had calves for the 1st time ever :) This leads me to believe in this case, MORE is better and frequency is key.

About the calf region... if I flex the area REALLY hard, my feet & calves cramp up... where sometimes I have to massage OUT the area. I thought it was b/c the reconstruction I had on my right ankle but it also occurs with the left. I also have played soccer my whole life & have been very active, SO ... I think my feet & running adjusted to accomodate my ankle problem, causing an imbalance in the way I walk (more on outsides of feet) It funny you can see this in my dress heels and the way my shoes wear down. I use to bartend for 4-5 years & 6-9 hours walking in 3.5" heels didn't to anything but mess up my posture lol :D There was a point where I could not NOT have a heel on.

Anyhow, I guess my point is there is obvious weakness when trying to push with my big toes (think calf press) then if I did with the little toes (i.e. toes in toes out toes forward presses)

I'm rambling b/c I AM picky :D Thank you for the suggestions :D

Thank you Sassy. I do NOT like the way my shoulders look when I try to 'pose' .. they have SO MUCH more potential in that are being my strong point, they look flat and deflated. They are NOT either. Posing is def. going to be the hard part for me.

Twinny, that would be awesome if you could make it. I know you would be there either way, person or spirit :) The thought is all that matters, thank you :rose: :rose: :)

I like the blue suit on the bottom row in that link Roony provided. I actually like the green one too (the one with a more lime feel). I am partial to black for sure, just because I feel with my hair & skin, the black suits I have worn (even with rhinestones in the past) just looked better. I don't want to look washed out which some reds & corals may do, esp with 6 coats of protan, and NO base tan since I do not tan in artificial or real sunlight anymore.

I do not want to go with the darker green & purple colors though. What do you think? Anyone else can also state some opinions here :)

Wow this is interesting.. b/c this is EXACTLY what happens to me!!! The cramping is a freakin killer. It happens all the time to me. My doctor thinks that my arch is collapsing so I am hoping to get fitted for arch supports.
We'll see if that helps!!
Oh and by the way I AM SOOO FREAKING EXCITED FOR YOU!!!!!

Thank you flor :)

No, not necessarily
#1 Diet
#2 Training (weights)
#3 Cardio (this will include but not be limited to HIIT)
#4 Supplements (if any :))

I can only flex my calves hard for a few seconds. Then they start cramping. It's actually funny to watch ,cause you can see all the muscles rippling underneath, like an Earthquake.

I think you have the start of a good rear pose in the pic w/ your hair in the left corner -- I don't think you need to do much of anything except stand there - your delts & lats have the size & V already. I would be real careful about sticking my elbows out too far or spending too much time trying to do a contrived pose - I think you have the size & shape just fine. When I did my little period fo time prepping for figure I was told to relax my shoulders just to get the stance right. Anythign more looked more like BB. Frankly that may be part of the challenge is to look less BB & more figure...

lol Yup I was just standing there :) Thank you for the post Sassy. I need to flip through some sites for poses ... you have a few in your RTC sticky (ready to compete) :)

I want nothing more but to look as natural as I can on that stage.

I SO know what you mean... it's SUCH a pain.

Check this link from the 2006 Jr Nationals - I still think this was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Its fairly recent so will show the "look" they are going for this year ( ) --- its not as hard as last yr, but I'd still show up w/ a 6 pack and some nice cuts. Probably move away from size but more cut, but no 'hard'.

Anyway - there are fantastic pix under the Figure category:

Great link Sass thank you Feel free to post what NOT to do when posing if you or anyone else ever feels like it :) What's with the hands on these girls? Are you suppose to keep them together or flare out your fingers? Both look un'natural' to me ...

On the side poses, some girls and looking straight ahead, while a few sneak in the turn at the waist ... is the shoulder facing the audience suppose to be pulled back some to get a peak at the chest?

:) :D

I'd keep the fingers probably closer together- graceful, not stiff. Flared - probably not. Again there's no "perfect" way to do it but rather what you wear well & are able to present comfortably.

If you look thru the pix there are two different sets of stances - the comparison round is where you want to do the face the side -- you'll see that in just about all of them. You will see a whole bunch of different postures -I'd say look & see which one looks the best to you. You can tell who looks like they are hunched up and uncomfortable so that should give you a good idea of what is "good". And then see how it looks on you.

The individual pictures w/ the more "model" poses -- that is more for the individual rounds where you are the one on stage as well as the stance you would hold while you are in the line up on the sides while other people are lined up - make sure you are graceful, smiling, eye contact to the audience & all teh judges even while you are in the background. Make sure you are facing the judges -- for ex if you are positioned on the right side of the stage (judge's right side) make sure you have the largest face of your body facing them & not turned away.

On the rear poses on the comparison sometimes it looks like the girl is leaning forward some to hide any butt folds & such - but then you can also see them do it from the side poses which IMO just looks weird - you can see that in some of the side poses as well. I'm open for anyone else to make a comment, but even tho they are trying to hide the butt folds or whatever, it just looks weird on the side.

For the most part all of these girls know how to pose, but you can go thru them all see what looks the most natural & comfortable to you and then look specifically at the girls who won their classes to see what they do. Granted they may not have the same body type as you but it gives an idea of what "stands out" in this show.

It looks to me like Figure may be the hardest to prepare for since you cant exactly just train and diet as hard as possible, say like the BB's. Seems like the difference between the winners and NP's is all size and cut - some that did not place are soft, but some were pretty ripped - I am guessing too ripped???

Yes AL it is possible to be too ripped for Figure.

Buns I think a black suit with lots of stones would look great, I was actually thinking of doing black for my next suit, the 1 thing about a black suit though, it needs looks of stones, so you don't blend in with the background, which usually is black.

As well as having it stand out against the protan....

Figure gets weirder & weirder as at the top levels you will still find ripped up girls, or probably more so in the fitness divisions. But there's this whole undefined movement towards "softer" which still brings back the balance between being lean but not too hard, but not too squishy either. The Jr Nationals is really one of the top competitions so you are getting the cream of the crop and some of them are definitely built just short of a BB. This year that counted against them - last year they probably would've been your class winners.

Thank you for the suggestion Twinny :rose:

I am going through a weird phase right now. It is known to those closest to me that I am a competitor. I have been since I was given my first soccer ball when I was in preschool, yes preschool. I have been very athletic my entire life. It's difficult to try & explain to people who know that side of my personality, that I am doing this comp with no intention of winning. It’s like they cannot believe their ears. Am I just kidding myself here?! I’d love to win, who wouldn’t? But do I expect to? Honestly no, and I am scared.

You’d never guess after meeting me that I have this fear of speaking in public, and most definitely of being on stage… in front of a bunch of people who I am literally asking to judge me. I HATE when people judge me yet I am throwing myself to the wolves. THAT is why I want to go out there knowing I did the best I could, I look the best I could, and not try to cater to what the judges feel the ‘look of the week’ is for that comp, since you never really know WHAT they are looking for.

I really don’t need the “do a show for you” lecture; I am in more ways than you all know doing this for me, for experience, to face my own fears in a way.

Can I just tell you how much it means to me to hear the feedback from people whose opinions I value? Those who KNOW the fitness side of me? It’s like entering the fitness lifestyle all over again when your friends & family don’t understand or don’t trust you are doing the right thing, etc.

On another note, my good friend TK emailed me & said , “I heard about that competition, I think someone else I know is in that thing.”

LOL My reply outta NO WHERE, “ha she better watch out then if I’m competing against her …”

His reply, “I have to tell you, I like my friend *insert name* but she doesn't hold a candle to you. You are incredible.”

Grr…

Excuse the venting, it needed to come out… lol, I’ll prolly laugh later & say WTF did I post that :D Kinda like reading old diaries lol HAHAHA!

I typically suggest going to the state's official web site and looking through some pics from last year's show...AS well as pics form the CURRENT year...this gives a lot of infomation about quality of the show as well as more current standards

Yup, that is a great suggestion. Sassy's link for Jr Nats helped greatly too.

Lucky for me, the hosts gallery is currently off line for "review all the winners photos...complete with captions." I think I'm going to stop checking every day. :)

That is probably the most common statement I've heard about people taking on their first competition....

it does absolutely indicate the size of both the challenge as well as the perceived accomplishment.

So much for trying to be original ...

But here's an interesting aspect of it - how many other times in your life have you said that about something you wanted to take on? I think that alone really reveals the size of the challenge in terms of personal accomplishment, commitment, doing something completely outside of the box and something that is perceived as radical in your daily life....

i.e. its a good thing!

Compare --

In my life I still consider my greatest accomplishments to be:
- learning to drive a stick shift
- completing my dive master training and working / doing the stuff that was mostly done by the guy dive masters
- getting on stage the first time & not slipping in protan, getting on stage the 3rd time & loving the shit out of it.

wow thats some sound advice from sassy over there buns looks like its :velvett: time! heh

no doubt youll want to take the competition home and place first who wouldnt...i think you have good chances tho bunny. reguardless you will have a great time. this is a sport about competing so naturally you will want to win, and you know if it dont come this time....the next =]

MM - you're sweet. Thank you.

WOW suits are NOT cheap ... if you know my taste you know I am not looking at the simple ones either... Ha!

Any comments on about not having a base tan before protan application? Has anyone or do you know anyone that has just used the paint? :D

QUESTION FOR EVERYONE!!!

Hair up or down & why/why not?

Side note: I entertained the possiblity of straightening it but like curl falls for some people with straight hair (RIP Long straight Blonde Bunny), I am SURE with all these curls it will NOT fully straighten. I also do NOT really wanna fry my hair by using flat irons and esp NOT color it. That may affect my ability to donate it later down the road.

I'm going to have to pay treil to drive here & do an up do b/c she's AWESOME at those...
comments questions opinions, everyone welcome

:rose:

I am just going to start to flood this with questions & comments & requests for help, so please bare with me ... :)

I was going to still look into private instruction for yoga & pilates to help with conditioning for the posing, and to help me look long, lean & flexible ... when I don't stretch properly I feel short & tight (perfect example hip flexors from sitting all day.) I am seriously considering paying someone for some sessions, either at my gym or spa 2-3 times a week to MAKE me commit to those aspects of my training. I think it will also help sanity issues.

good idea....my hip flexors are always tight...and having someone help stretch you is really helps you out!

p.s. i'm for hire :)

LOL ... I seriously need to pay someone to stretch me LOL ... AT one gym we have this jungle-gym like stretch station, it helps :) I stretch in b/w sets but I NEED MORE ... :D

Im stretching my hip flex's now & going to do Scorp's Calf Raises lol :D

if i starting stretching my hip flexors right now i'd prob take some heat.....i got enough harassment this morning for carrying 3 cups of oats with me in a ziplock bag today.... :FRlol:

The gym I went to in Minneapolis had trainers who stretched their clients -- its a good thing to do if you can find someone.

Otherwise I'm liking my approach --
- 5 min cardio warmup
- 10 min "drills" -- you do some of that already
- 5-10 min static stretching.

I also do NOT really wanna fry my hair by using flat irons and esp NOT color it. That may affect my ability to donate it later down the road.

I'm going to have to pay treil to drive here & do an up do b/c she's AWESOME at those...
comments questions opinions, everyone welcome

:rose:

You would be amazed how your hair will straighten. My friend has hair just like yours and uses a GHD ceramic flat iron (best on the market) with some good hair protector and can get it as flat as a pancake - it looks great. No frying at all!

However, hair is such an important reflection of your personality that maybe natural color, looser natural curls in a Treil special updo, with enough tendrils around the face to soften would suit you.

You need to have a play! Girly fun :)

Hey Girl!

Have not been online in a while...CONGRATS on making the commitment to your first show! Nsashbl and I will be there to cheer you on :)...GOOD LUCK!!!!! I am in Chicago so if you need anything in the preparation please let me know. I also know of a VERY GOOD TRAINER...but she is out of Chicago...don't know how far away you live from the city. She is THE BEST POSING coach in my opinion and believe me....I went through alot of them. I know she has helped MANY girls prepare for figure shows.

Hey Beautiful :D Jens, question about your protan... You had hubby spray you in lieu of being painted right? Have you done both? With one do you prefer? Benefits? Downfalls?:D

I used Protan.....he painted it on me with a foam brush dipped in an old plastic container while I stood on a drop cloth.....I got the spray tan done once just to experience it and felt it was fine, but messy....ie you have to get dressed while it's still wet & drive home....plus it wouldn't be dark enough.....

I used 6 coats of Protan along with 3 months of laying in the tanning booth & had no complaints on my color.....started the process Wed nite, rinse off Thurs morn., coat 2 Thurs morn, rinse Thurs nite, coat 3 Thurs nite, etc etc.....

Thank you so much for sharing :rose: My problem is, I literally have to shave everyday to keep my legs smooth .. Maybe MAYBE every other day if I'm lucky.

When did you stop showering... after thursday mornings rinse?
When did you stop shaving?
I am considering waxing ... eek.

:D

I didn't care for waxing personally - didn't do anything for me better than a razor.....I did a full body shave on Wed. afternoon with a new razor & just touched up if I had to.....didn't really affect the Protan....

No, I rinsed Thurs morning, Thurs nite, Fri morning & Fri nite, but didn't use soap.....the Fri nite coats + the Sat morning coat I didn't shower afterwards.....then applied bronzer @ the venue....

Oh and you need to stop using all lotions about 1 week or so before hand to let your skin dry out....

If you are thinking about waxing, I would give it a "test wax" SOON ..... then you know what to expect at comp time.

What I have experienced with the waxing I have done (bikini, eyebrows), is that I get "puffy" around the waxing area for about 12 hours. You wouldn't want that at comp time!

I pretty much shave everything every day -- and if you go that route at least start doign it a few weeks before because you don't want to have to deal w/ ingrown hairs. The protan -- would suggest pouring the bottle out into a plastic container, get a good cosmetic sponge, dip it in & start putting it on. Exfoliate really good right before the first layer, no oils, etc. The first layer mostly just needs to be thick - try to catch the drips and all that but its more important to just get a good layer on. Let it dry over nite, shower in the morning. Next 4-5 layers same thing - you are probably ok to shave - mostly just dont' press hard so you make the last layer start to crack etc. The first couple layers should be thick, good coverage. The first couple layers I'd stand in front of a fan and make sure it dries completely. Then you can sleep in long sleeves/legs, probably put down a dark sheet - expect the stuff to get all over everything. You might want to put up a cheap shower curtain too if you have a nice one in your shower.

Also for the shaving part, well this is a little gross, but you can have alittle hair growth, and although you yourself will see it and it feels gross (cause you are used to shaving it everyday, like myself, my hair grows very quickly) nobody in the audience is going to see alittle hair growth.

I'm so not down with the waxing, by the time my skin returns to normal, my hair has started to grow backjust not worth it for me.

Thank you for the great info ladies! I am NOT into waxing at all, Twinny, for the same reason as you, ha go figure :)

Yep, exactly what 24k said - you're onstage about 6 feet away & a few feet above the judges - they won't see a bit of stubble and the bronzer should smooth out any issues with the Protan too, but I didn't have a problem....

One thing with the Protan - it makes you COLD!! I was shivering as it was applied.....and it WILL soak thru your sheets & into your mattress - so you need something in between the sheet & mattress pad.....and a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser will get *most* of it off the toilet seat.....

Ooooh! I just started a thread about this in the girl talk forum. Check this out: Cleancut Shaver

I bought one and it works SO DAMN GOOD!!! As close as shaving with a razor but without any razor burn. Use baby powder and shave dry. I'm tellin' ya - It's the best invention EVER. :D I'm going to give them as Christmas gifts this year.

Going to repost over here as well for those following if anyone lol :D

Here are some pics that I took this morning after I got out of the shower. I didn't leave out the wheels, just didn't take any shots of the quads & hams that were 'postable'.

I am posting B & W's so you can better see my muscle. The color are VERY washed out since I am SO pale, I didn't want to adjust to 'color' so I simply removed it.

I'll get some leg shots (front & back) soon.

Ahh whatever I'll post both color & BW...

Compare Week 0 ^^ to Week 1

***1st week progress ***

Last week was Week Zero

-------------------------------------------------
***Here are Skin Fold Sites from 09_05_2006***
-----------------------------------------------

For my reference, possible things affecting accurate reading:
· 5.5 lbs lighter than previous measure
· Possible errors or water displacement from last week, ab mm was too low, suprail & chest was too high (cannot say for sure)
· She took all pinches, then did it again .. I had her check the ab mm 3 times…

Here are Skin Fold Sites from 09_25_2006 @ 166.0 lbs compared with last test (from the same pincher) on 08/24/2006 @ 171.5 lbs

**Note** After comparing my mm’s to that of my last cut, it appears my ab, chest & possible suprailiac mm were off at week Zero (starting BF reading), or I was just holding water in the oddest places lol, wouldn’t surprise me. Notable differences are the tri pinch (which was oddly higher) & the ab pinch seemed VERY high.

Tricep:.........................16 mm ** up + 3
Subscapular:...................16 mm ** down – 2
Chest:.........................10 mm ** down – 7
Midaxillary:....................11 mm ** down – 2
Suprailiac:.....................13 mm ** down – 11
Abdomen:......................23 mm ** up + 13
Thigh:..........................18 mm ** down – 2.5
Sum of Skin Folds:............107 mm ** down – 8.5
Density:.......................1.050 ** up –0.003

BODY FAT:.....................20.28% ** down 1.34%
Fat Weight:............................33.67 lbs ** down 3.41
LEAN BODY MASS:............132.33 lbs ** down –2.09 lbs

holy bed sheet stains. I'm guessing you had to either sleep in the garage or you used old bed linen. ;)

I am almost 9 weeks out.

Critique is welcome, and encouraged.

Feel free to point out areas I need to work on, +'s, -'s

Shadow? Vel? Sassy? Daisy? 24? Comp people? Anyone? Bueller?

Quite honestly, buns - I think you're about there. Your shoulders look good to me - nice and proportioned with your back. After following your log these past years, it seems to me that you've got the fat loss down perfect, which is really hard for most.

oh, damn. nice lats! (I was examining your back). lolol

a reply!!! THANK YOU!! Thank you for taking the time to examine, MUCh appreciated!

abs - need more BuMpS lol

calves - self explanatory

ham/glute tie in - the booty is cute, but not for a comp, I don't want that crease or be the girl bent over on stage trying to hide it

I have this fear I am going to lose my shoudler caps & size with intense cutting (i.e. 4 weeks out with hour cardio AM/PM with minimal cals), which is why I'd rather go hard now (and eat for my activity level, not touch that yet) so in 5-6 weeks I can make adjustments & tweak what is lacking, not the other way around and be trying to make a deadline or waiting until the last minute ... I cannot tell you how much I do not LIKE that.

Were you able to track down some pics from last years show and other winners for in state shows this year?
