Training chest with f'd up shoulder?

I've been having problems with my left shoulder on and off for the past 10 years. Anytime I get into weight training, as I start pushing heavier weights, I have to back off because of pain for several days in the joint.

Right now I'm experiencing the longest run in the gym without shoulder problems, mainly due to the fact that I'm not doing the same bench routine, and only using dumbells instead of the straight bar. (allows me to push with my wrist at an angle).

Incline and declince cause pain regardless of dumbell or bar.

Can I just stick to flat dumbell presses, or will my pecs look strange without incline/decline.

iv'e been doing the hammer strength chest machines only just to get a nice pump every chest workout and its minimal strain on the chest.. i treid barbell press today and it fucking killed.. so i'm gonna stick with the hammer strength shit for a while..
