I don't think it's about walking anything a good therapist, doctor or practitioner needs empathy. I prefer when a doctor is on the younger side and open minded.

Actually it's unethical to talk about your personal experiences with a patient, if my therapist told me he's been through what Ive been and that they ''get me'' Id be quite uncomfortable, because Id fear they'll pawn their solutions on me, therapists need to tailor the session plan based on my info and needs not their experiences...
