The extra calories are from glycerine/glycerol, one of those two. I'm not sure of which exactly, but it contains something like 4.5 calories per gram. I've heard mixed reviews on how it affects you. Personally, I've tried staying away from it because I just don't know how it will affect me.

Yep extra cals come from glycerol...they don't count it as a carb. It doesn't affect insulin but it can be stored as glycogen (i.e will kick you out of ketosis if that's what you're aiming for)
