In home personal training

Recently got approached by a company that offers in home PT for clients in a protected area heres the break down:

(they claim)

Lead list as per direct calls and mailings.
$ 204 per client monthly take home/ plus $20 for diet info.
$5k for equipment which includes fitness balls, bands, weights, light dumbells, scale, fat caliper, charts, etc. and a cart to wheel it out on.
All to be takin in your vehicle to clients home or office.
Clients sign 6 month contracts @ $288 per month for 3-4 training sessions weekly.

Figure 20 clients is $4k per month and trust me ill only claim about 1% of that, they say only one hour and 10 minute sessions. I dont see how a decent sized person could benefit but a fat out of shape office lady or guy could. I talked to an independant owner in Indy last week he said he has been operating for 1 year now and has 28 clients totaling $5,600 per month.

What do you think is this company a scam or what?

you'd get ripped off.

thats great that you have equipment to lug around, you have your time taken up driving to and from appts, gas prices etc. too much overhead and wasted time for meager pay.

True. true.

trust me, I have only ONE client that I train outside of the gym and every session i feel like my time is being wasted driving there. make them come to you.

That is a total ripoff. First of all charging 5k for that equipment you can buy on your own for less than $1000 is a ripoff.

Then break it down - $288 a month for training someone 3 times a week = 12 sessions which amounts to $22 an hour. That's a crappy rate for at home training. My at home clients pay $65-$100 an hour depending on what I know they can afford.

Thanks brah!

depends what you charge. I have 4 in-homes and i charge them $100/session, 2 sets of husband/wifes. 10 sessions a week = $4k month. or course that is if they are all in town with no cancelations in a month. Anyway, my point is - in-home can be worth it. Esp if you think that the fist one might be able to get you in with some others in the neighborhood or whatever.
I like it b/c it gets me out of the gym for a couple hours each day. Nice change really.
