I think I have gallstones.

Has anyone had them. It burns really bad in my upper right abdomen just under the ribs. I'm nauseated. This has been going on during my pregnancy only. Two doctors now tell me that I have bruised ribs from the baby, but I don't think that is right. This doesn't feel like it is on the rib.

Plus, I'm native american and pregnant, both of which are big risk factors for gallstones.

I was not overweight before getting pregnant, though. Although, my dad had his out, and he wasn't fat either.

Anyone ever had their gallbladder removed? Do my symptoms sound like the gallbladder. DAMN IT HURTS BAD!

Is there anything that can get rid of them or can they go away without surgery?
I had gall stones and gall bladder attacks starting when my son was 2 weeks old. very common for women to get them during their childbearing years and also very much hereditary. pretty much every female in my mom's family has had theirs removed.

i had mine removed whem my son was less than 3 months old.

i had had numerous excruciating attacks that left me thinking i was having a heart attack - couldnt breathe, bent over in pain and yes, nauseated.

does it feel like intense pain starting in your ribs that radiates around both sides to your back? i found that changing positions, etc did not relieve any of the pain. it was just terrible. it would normally last at least 2-3 hours or more at a time/

they can do tests on your liver enzymes to see if you're possibly having gall stones and then an ultrasound.

pretty much the only treatment is gall bladder removal/. you can try not to eat certain foods (anything with nuts, greasy, fattening, etc) to reduce the chances of an attack coming on, but it wont go away unless you have the laser surgery.

No, mine doesn't radiate to my back. It is extremely specific to right under my right breast where the ribcage is. Also, I have found that if I lie on my right side and then change positions, it is like someone shoves a knife into me it hurts so bad. Yesterday, I felt so bad that I ate nothing but a bowl of cereal and some chicken salad made with non-fat mayo. So, I had nearly no fat but the attack was WORSE. My liver enzymes tested normal at 6 months, so I'm thinking it may not be gallstones.

My pain sounds different than Stilleto's, yours and diggers.

I hope it goes away after the baby is born. Holy cow. It feels like someone stabbing me with a red hot poker.

the wife had the same pains. they told her it was the baby pressing against that side all the time. well they said it was his foot pressing against it. but once our son was born it went away.
My baby has been head down with his feet up on that right side pretty much since he was big enough to fill up the space. Sometimes he presses so hard you can see his feet moving around there. However, I have had this pain since about month 5 or 6, so I'm not sure. It gets worse the bigger he gets.

Maybe he is pressing a nerve, which would explain the burning sensation. Plus, there is about a 2 inch area that feels almost numb to the touch on the outside.

Last night I was thinking that I may welcome the damn contractions compared to this...lol.

I'll bend the doctor's ear again on Monday, but I'm thinking that it may be what your wife had and not gallstones. My pain doesn't radiate anywhere like everyone else's did.

You know what is also strange.

All the guys that went out with HR developed a sharp pain just below their back.
