Theoretically, if someone made some G using GBL following instructions and it came out with a pH of 7, should that pH ever change? This theoretical person just took some (there was about 1/4 of the bottle left) and it burned the shit out of their throat, so they tested the ph. It looked to be over 14!!! Would I be better off not converting next time? I'm scared about making another batch and having this happen again. Karma for help, thanks!

it's better to let the finished product sit for a day in order let the reaction COMPLETELY happen. Then take it and test the pH. If it's too high, do what therookie mentioned and it should be ok.

7 is ok for G, 14 is pure basic, need to add more GBL

I know it was okay to start with and that this is a recent problem because it used to go down fine and now recently it severely burns your throat and it takes about 1/2 an hour for the pain to go away. Somehow it turned into a pure base, is that possible?

I have been making the stuff for 8 years and done it every weekend since, no sides-nothing.

Let me know your ratio and I can critique if you want.
