Who knows anything about this?

From what I understand you can't have any handguns in the city, but you can have rifles/shotguns as long as they are registered downtown.... is this true? Supposedly also any firearm (shotgun or rifle) has to be over 26 inches in total lenght?

Does this mean you can have a semi like an AR-15 or an AK now with the AWB lifted?

Isn't this unconstitutional? Or do they get around it by allowing the long guns?

Funny - thinking about it it seems like it woudl be very anti-women - as I don't see many women preferring either rifles/shotguns as self defense means.... even in the home...


I knew Chicago was a liberal cesspool (I am from there and deplore the politics, but love the city), but in all the time I lived there I never knew of this.... How long has this been in effect?

Nearly everyone I know there has guns in their homes - maybe cause most of em are cops? I never knew about this law...

When I lived in Chicago, I spent a couple years living on the southside.... (Hyde Park, 55th street)

The AWB and handgun ban do NOTHING to stop crime in that area... I still fondly remember the sound of automatic gunfire echoing off of buildings on warm summer nights......

I'm against the AWB b/c the people who would commit crimes are not going to follow the law in getting the weapon to commit the crime to begin with. Gun control advocates like to make laws, then want to make more laws when one is broken as opposed to enforcing it.

the 2nd amndt's right to keep and bear arms has 2 qualifying statements. a well regulated militia, necessary to the security of a free state. it does not give anybody/everybody the right to own a gun. only "arms". what's an arm? knife, gun, nuke? it's all debateable. city's, towns, counties, etc. have the ability to ban guns. want to argue, don't ask me, as the supreme court, any time such a case has been taken up that high, the ban has prevaled. examples: sawed off shotguns, automatic weapons. all that being said, i'm not "anti-gun" i have a xd9 sitting beside me loaded up with 16 hollow points.
