cardio in the early morning or later in the evening

well im gonna go for the canadian army sniper course in alittle over a yrs time, but i wanna get in marathon runner shape /lose weight before that. so question: if i want to maximize stamina / weight lost should i do cardio in the early morning on an empty stomach (except for a small cup of coffee) or later in the evening well after ive eaten lunch. so far i can run about an hr non stop on a treadmill at a 10 miles per hr pace. im also looking for suggestions to get faster times on the run, thank you.

TO increase speed you need to add sprint sessions. Doing long distance qork won;t doi anything to increase speed, but will help endurance. Start working on track sprints, treadmill sprints, fartleks.

Confused on the goals - are you MORE focused on fat loss, endurance, or speed?

AM workouts can help fat loss.
Long distance workouts can increase endurance.
Sprints can help speed.

Put together a workout program that utilizes all these things.

sry, i was trying to say i was looking for a way to burn fat and to increase stamina, and youve answered that question very well. i did what u adviced and basically started an endurance run for about 40 minutes and on the last 5 minutes i broked into a sprint. so as as u said, i manged to incorporate sprinting, and long distance stuff into the run- also this was done in the AM. I felt like i was gonna die, but afterwards, i felt refreshed (somehow). thanks again :)

Cardio is more effective in the morning. It raises your metabolism and helps you burn calories more effeciently throughout the day.
Great way to start the day IMO.
A heart rate monitor would be an excellent investment to use during your training. Not too expensive and can help you train in your aerobic hr zone to maximize your efforts.

Personally I like doing cardio in the evening, 8-10pm. I can't do much in the morning, need to wake up properly!

Thanks for that link. The older I get, the more I realize the value of bodyweight calisthenics vs. hard weight training.
