Another deadlift video for Mike and all!!

Nicely done, Shades. Good speed off the floor, IMO. You can boost your lockout strength w/ power surgs and rack pulls. But to get that extra 25, maybe you just need to keep working the full lift. At some point, maybe lockout will need add’l work. Dunno.

Next time, try editing out the 30 s. it takes you to strap in. LoL j/k I’m willing to bet that if you ditched the straps, stomped around snorting and yelling, you could just walk up, grip it and rip it. No need for straps. That’s a guess. I seem to lift better when I don’t spend much time in the “ready” position. Also, you may consider sucking a big fat breath down deep into your belly before you pull. It looks like you’re not doing that. Most people recommend it, IIRC.

Overall, very nice job! Doing very well for a max lift. It was solid all around. No worries.

Damn you kids pulling 400+ w/out much training.
 
Excellent pull.....I thought it looked fine. What you may want to consider is a week away from deads, then a 3 week wave, week 1 work up to a heavy 5, week 2 work up to a heavy triple, then week 3 go for the 500x1.
 
Thanks guys! It is good to hear that my form still looked pretty decent while pulling. Haha I look like a machine gun or something when I am locking out though. I am going continue on into week four of the plan next week. I really feel like I could make some big jumps but I don't want to back myself into a corner and not be able to progress. Next Wednesday I pull 390x5 and I will probably attempt a 485 pull.

Keep the advice and comments coming! And yes I know I am pulling in running shoes....the extra inch is just making me that much stronger! ;)
 
Funny you mention that about the shoes....I've always either pulled in sneakers or olympic lifting shoes and one day a guy talked me into pulling in my socks and it was one of the worst DL sessions of my life, lol....it could be just coincidence, but screw it, I'll take the extra inch or two.
 
Looking strong as usual.

I don't think I'll ever try pulling (or squatting) barefoot either. Even if you want to stick with athletic shoes, you might want to get a pair of "lifting shoes" that you don't mind compressing the hell out of. Maybe pick up some Chucks.
