Injecting air?

A buddy I was talking to said that as he was finishing an injection and pushed all the way down on the syringe that it made a noise like he was squeezing air into his delt. He said who took all proper precautions before sticking.

Should be worried? I told him he would be fine.

Also, have any of you ever drawn with a smaller gauge needle and gotten a lot of small air bubbles in your syringe?

He should be fine. Bubbles really only cause problems when they are big and IV.

With a smaller gage needle, sometimes the force to draw up the meds is stronger than the seal between the syringe and the needle and air can leak in.

no prob

even if he was in a vein (which he would have known before the end of the shot when the air is injected), a small air bubble wont do anything (contrary to james bond folklore)

small bubbles are absolutely fine...the only real danger with bubbles is when they are large and injected into the vein because then they can take this cute little trip to your brain or heart, cause an embolism and kill you...but your friend will be fine

Its nothing to worry about. I do it with almost every poke. Just whats leftover in the syringe. It takes a lot larger amount of air, in addition to it having to be injected into a vein, to cause death.

remove 23 g, draw w/18g and over draw a but of air so you dont lose any in the pin, replace 23, plunge until 1 or 2 drops lube the pin, then all is well.

I always put a bubble of air in the pin so that I can get every last drop of the gear out when injecting.

i dont know why everyone's buddies dont have the fucking sack to open their own ef accounts...
