G5.0 vs. Gravity: The Neurotic Ramblings of a Man on a Mission

Yeah I forgot about that lol. That was tough since my glutes were tired from the boxes and *cough* pre-exhausted for deads. I probably compensated by using lower back, in retrospect.

Also, for deads I didn't ramp the weight very well from Week 1-4: 315, 365, 405, 410 (fail).

Good idea about fronts and GM's. I may try that or fronts and clean pulls.

Week 6
WEDNESDAY
Phase 2 -- Custom DF Program

DE Box Squats
warmups, 8 doubles @ 245

-My legs are a little beat up from Monday, which is sad ;) I hope it's just from the little layoff, and not a sign that I took a step back by not using any appreciable volume on Oly squats lately. :whatever:

Dips
general shoulder warmup, then a couple bodyweight sets, then BW+75x5x3

-Is it just me, or are dips always a grind? These felt heavy and slow despite the fact that this is token weight :whatever:

Chins
BWx5x2

-I decided to do these on Wednesdays in an effort to save my erectors for GMs on Fridays (I'll do BB rows on Mondays from now on). I widened my grip and they were quite a bit easier than they were on Monday :whatever:

Then I did some low back prehab in the form of hypers, some ab work (two sets of 25 decline situps) and got a nice bout of stretching in. Frankly I'm just a bit concerned about how my legs feel, but I suppose it's not unusual to feel a touch sore despite the light weights, given the departure from my usual 'high volume' squatting :whatever:

Damn...you're strong, but your chins suck. No offense or anything, 'cause your weights dwarf mine in some areas, but it's funny how the big guys never chinup a lot (strength ratio) and leaner folk can bust 'em out no problem.

Keep it up though man.

They are always a grind for me too. I was doing 45's for reps and that first one always seems like a shocker at the bottom.

I never really looked closely at the ratios, but I thought I was pretty strong on chins actually. I mean, I can do 8 or 9 and I weigh 250+ (by the time I hit the gym and have eaten four or five times during the day), so that's pretty good IMO. The only thing that bothers me is the fact that I haven't improved on them as much as some of my other lifts. I was doing chins for about 5 reps (I think) at about the time I became 'enlightened' by MC2, and I've only added a few reps since then. I suppose some of that would have to do with the fact that I've never once added weight to 'em. THat needs to change, and it will this time around.

Oh yeah - I might be moving again  The guy who recruited me for this position has been promoted and is being moved to Indianapolis, and I'm almost 100% sure that I'll be there in about a week and a half. I should be in Cali for training (work) next week and I sure hope I can find an adequate facility to train (weights) in. Cali is a vain place (I grew up there) so it shouldn't be a problem :D

Ohhh, shit. I forgot - you write your shit weird. 5x2 is 2 sets of 5 reps for you. I thought you could only gut out two chinups in a set. Haha, nevermind. :FRlol:

Dips are always tough for me also. I've done BW+110 lbs for 4-5 reps but even when I do just one plate, on the first rep I can feel my muscles and joints trying to prepare for the next 'x' amount of reps.
