Just a question: If the woman had subsequently died as a result of her injuries then would her shooting her assailant prior to her demise have been justified?
I know this is a very big "if" however due to the nature of her injuries I don't think it is too much of a stretch. When a man is wailing on another human being's head as was the case in this situation (skull fracture and fracture to one's eye socket) somehow I dont think the one that is perpetrating the injuries is thinking, "I just want to render this person incapabe of stopping me from whatever it is that I am doing FOR NOW. I don't MEAN to beat them so badly that I frankly I DONT CARE whether they live or die, or even what the quality of that person's life is IF they should happen to recover from my assault."
It isn't like the guy broke her legs.
I can't believe that this guard fought so hard just to protect someone else's money.
