British Man Denied Parole, Ruled "A Threat to Burglars"

Imnotdutch said:

Judging by some of the posts on this site.........no :) We cant help it if the country is run by idiots who got where they are because they were born into the right family.

Does the UK not vote their officials into office? And do the people not vote on laws which are to be imposed onto themselves? If this IS the case then it is the fault of the people who elected these numbnuts who removed their right of protection from them. The people are the wardens of the government, unfortunately they are asleep on the job, while the prisoners are running the asylum. The citizens are ultimately to blame.

Regarding laws, we have a two tier system. New laws have to get past the House of Commons (elected members) and the House of Lords (non-elected members who inherit their right to be in this house). We elect one, not the other.

Furthemore, it is unlikely that you will become a judge and be able to pass the ridiculous sentence shown above unless you are closely affiliated with a member fo the House of Lords. We do not elect judges. IN THIS COUNTRY THE JUDGES ARE THE PROBLEM NOT THE LAWS.

So to say it is all the fault of the citizens isn't strictly true.

if we had a branch of government where the leaders inherited their position, year after year, there would rioting in the streets.

I see you love the freerepublic as much as I do.

Like they say all the time there, when guns are outlawed only the outlaws will have guns. Its pathetic that a guy who used a gun to protect his home is being forced to spend years in prison. What kind of retarded shit is that?

that's plain ridiculous. let the man go. he did nothing wrong. defending your home is you God given right. i'd have done the same thing. then i'd of sued their family to clean the blood off my carpet, ok i would'nt go that far. :)

it seems life is geared towards protecting the criminal, in all the western countries

im sure in america as well, if someone trespasses on our property, you happen to shoot and kill him, you'll be charged with manslaughter

you can;t even carry non-lethal forms of self defence, if you have done self defence/martial arts you will be prosectued more feverently if you do get into a fight and burglars can actually sue you if you use excessive force. it really takes the piss when some gangsta get a slap on the wrist and he;s got a knife on him, yet you can;t carry a pepper spray without breaking the law

countries got all their priorities wrong. someone breaks into a house, tryand rehab them and put an electronic tag on them. leave it on for a few years and see if they do it again. give them curfews. they break it, give em hard labour
