Need help increasing squat

good mornings and hypers on leg day cuthbert?

I am already bdoing regular deadlifts cuthbert.......adding all those is a helluva lot of lower back work, which i'm not afraid of, but isn't it very stressfull on the lower back?

My lower back is hit on 3 of my 4 training days. IMO training your lower back is the most important thing you can do to have a strong squat and deadlift.

yep.....point taken. Thanks man.

That kind of rep progression isn't optimal for gaining strength.

Change it up, try lower rep counts and more sets

Here's what I do (just the working sets, not including warmups):

Week 1
Monday: 3 sets of 5 reps with 85% of my 5 rep max
Friday: 1 set of 5 reps with 90% of my 5 rep max

Week 2
Monday: 5 sets of 3 reps with 85% of my 3 rep max
Friday: 1 set of 3 reps with 90% of my 3 rep max

Week 3 (max week)
Monday: Try for a new 5 rep max or 3 rep max.
Friday: Light squats.

Week 4 (light week)
Monday: 3 sets of 5 reps with 60% of my 5 rep max
Friday: 1 set of 5 reps with 70% of my 5 rep max

Week 5 - Start over

It works for me. I back squatted 245kg and front squatted 200kg
using this program. And I weigh 100kg.

5x5..and if you fail at a certain weight go to 5x3..i also think box squats and Gm's are great assists for squats and deads and should be included in your program..
