What Roid For Recovering From Surgery?

MP5 said:
Just got back surgery last week for a herniated disc. Pretty laid up and the doc says i might be able to hit the gym in a month or so. Wondering if deca or EQ would have any sort of benefit for healing my back. Perhaps even starting it before I hit the gym again. All i have currently is some dbol and test which i was saving for the future unless it would help get my back healed up. Seems like anavar or winny might be a good option in lower doses almost like a bridge.
hold off until you are 100% I've heard deca will help ease some pains when on it but once you are off the pain comes right back. Just hold off until you are 100%

Thanks for the input, kind of figured i ought to wait. Going to up the protein intake, and i am off of all supplements currently.

My L4 disc was herniated 3mm, and it was pushing right on the sciatic nerve. I tried Chiro and physical therapy but it did not help. The problem is the doctor told me that my spine was aligned so chiro would not help anyway. Got to the point that i could barely walk and i could not lift anyway. They went in and cut off the chunk of disc that was sticking out. Still have mild sciatic pain, but it has only been a week. Pretty depressing to see all the muscle vanish. Told me no more dead lifts ever, and only light squats from here on out. Based on the pain i was in, and how horrible the surgery was, i am going to follow that advice! Man, i fucking loved dead lifts! :(

bro

I feel your pain. I'm only 22yrs. old and have already herniated two disks, 1 bulging. I didn't get surgery cause of my age. I got epidural injects which helped, but I still get pain all the time.... manageable though.

The thing that hurts the most is not being able to do deads and squats. I have a slight curvature in my spine, so squats are a no-no. I powerlifted in High School, which is when I killed my back. Now I have to just go for the aesthetic, lean model look and not the Freak look....which sucks. Oh well, like you said, I would rather be able to walk.lol

p.s. what did your doc say about heavy overhead pressing? Cause I can't do heavy bb or db presses for delts now.aaarhrrhh.

rj420, sorry to hear you are in the same boat. I am 31 so atleast i got a little more use out of my body first. My L5 is also looking suspect according to the MRI, but it has not buldged yet. No one knows what "pain in the ass" means until they have sciatic nerve pain. My doc has not said anything about overhead presses yet, but i bet it is out too. He told me zero deads and only light squats. I have a jacked knee from skiing and snowboarding all these years and told him squats are tought anyway. He said better yet, don't do them at all. So i am stuck doing leg extensions and curls. Oh well, not like i was quadzilla anyhow. I have been real creative with my lifts since getting hurt. I have not lifted in a month and a half already, so another month won't matter. Although i am down 20 fucking pounds!

good call on the glutamine, i will give it a shot.

Bro, first off dont use anything till the incision area is totally healed. Reason being, is that most of the gear we use is VET grade gear and this could actually cause an infection. Most of our patients usually bounce back pretty quick from this type of surgery. If it were me, I'd wait till I was 100% so I didnt do too much to soon and set myself back farther. If you do decide to do anything, I'd use some HGH with some anavar. Although, I will say that after my most recent shoulder operation, once I got to nearly 100% I used a low dose of enanthate with some Halo at 20mgs a day. This did wonders for me as far as getting the strength back, and some of my other bros have done this same cycle after their surgery and loved it as well. I guess you just have to be a big fan of Halo, which I am. I love the stuff. In a matter of about 3 weeks I gained all the strength and then some back in my shoulder and had no problems what so ever while doing so. Good luck on what you decide to do, and feel free to shoot me a P.M. if you have any other post op questions.

deca or anavar. both will speed healiing and are approved for such on yhe US. good luck getting a sympathetic doc.

This is not good advice. I'd like to know why you think these roids are "approved" in the US for this application.

Deca might make your joints feel better, and anavar may have been successfully used encourage skin collagen growth in burn victims, but few studies have actually been done regarding aas and healing.

GH apparently does have some positive effect on all types of collagen, but this hasn't been well studied either. Nothing is going to help one's back recover from a herniated disc except for rest, and at the right time, the correct physical therapy.

If feel for you bro. I know what it's like to be busted up too. Except in my case, I really am busted up. 3 mo's ago I was in a car accident that totalled my y2k Ford PowerStroke 4 door 4x4. I should have died in the crash and almost died on the op. table. I suffered cracked right ribs, bruised lung, broken femor (now has a bar in it), shattered fibula ! that came right out the side of my ankle! (now has a bracket holding the bone and the bottom most fragment in place and waiting for the fragments in between to calcifie (fuse), it will be removed in a year.
One, if it were not for Jesus, I'd for sure be dead. Dr's say if it were not for my muscle mass I'd for sure be dead (I just finished a cycle at that time lol ).
For over 2 mo's I could only lay on my back and pee in a pitcher, it took extremes to get me to the bathroom to shit. I did percocet for the whole 3 mo's to keep the pain down. Now I found, I love percocet; 2 a day just 1 hour before bed feels sooooooo gooooooood! I don't take it for pain now, just because I love the feeling! ok fuck you's, I love it.
The third month I could get around in a wheel chair and now I can get around in crutches with 120lbs of my body weight to date on the leg and I can now sleep on my side!!!!!! wooohoooooo! The reason I'm only at 120lbs on my leg so far is because the muscle atrified during that time so bad that I have a big left leg and a tiny right leg, my calf muscle is almost none existent.
Here is my plan now. I have only exactly 3 mo's left to be back to work at 100% or I'm terminated. I'm starting a Fina/EQ/TEST cycle. Fina to speed up bone tissue rebuilding (some say bullshit but I believe it raises GH levels and I've used it alot), EQ because it is good on ligaments, and test just to keep the fina from shutting off my sex drive.
That's my plan and I'm sticking to it.
THE STORM SHADOW out

damn, and i thought i had it bad! It has been a week now and i can actually kind of walk around. I was able to go to the store today and even drive my truck. I am still getting pains in my leg, i hope it is just a phantom pain and once i am healed i will be ok. I cannot believe how something like taking a shit was something i took for granted before!
