Here is another shot, now 20hrs after the inital tear. I'm starting to see an indentation there in the towards the top of the big red blur, see the lighter red line going down kinda vertical.

jesus christ, is your arm bigger at the elbow than the shoulder? Is that how it always looks or are you having heavy swelling and internal bleading running down into the elbow?

Man that looks rough, best of luck. I pulled a peck once, nothing like what yours looks like. I still have problems with it, all light bench and pushups now. I am not really interested in a big bench ever again, stamina is where I am looking from now on.

Yeah i had a bit of internal bleeding go all the way down to the elbow but no its not bigger at the elbow that at the shoulder. If you look at the pic right above your post, thats how far the bleeding went. Down to the very lower end of my tricep on the inside and where it reached the elbow.

Well I'm glad its surgery that i'm going thru instead of just hoping it heals on its own. The percentage of abilities after surgery vs it healing on its own is far better. I figure a year from now i'll be back to where I was, but I will not be going as heavy either. Tendons need a lot more time to strenthen up that muscles, so i'm going to have to hold myself back.

Well just had surgery this morning. Everything went great. They went in and attached some hooks to my tendon and ancored those hooks to my arm. I have a checkup in a few days and I guess I will get my rehab instructions and whatever else I need to know then. I'm glad its over with now except it hurts like fuck.

awesome that you are sewed back up
a few questions
is their anything to prevent this from happening? or is it nature of the game?
i feel a pain in my shoulder...starting to hurt outside the gym doing routine things.
you think i'm destined for some fucked up injury from bp'ing
i wonder if i should get out of bp'ing entirely :(
and do you have health insurance? what would've happened if you did not?

Sorry to hear about that buddy. The same shit happen to me 5 years ago but it was my right pec and I had the same swelling. I did not go to the Dr. for mine. It healed back up but now I have a indentation between my pec and delt. I no longer flat bench only incline. Are you by chance using fucking creatine? that was the reason for my pec tearing. Fuck that shit.

Rofl creatine caused his pec tear, now ive heard it all.

well really its just a matter of AAS use and the fact that they make the muscles stronger much quicker than your tendons can keep up with. It was my fault for not heeding the prior warning signs. I was having pains in my chest during workouts for 3 months or so prior and i'd take time off and then hit the gym again and within 2 weeks the pain would come back. I think I damaged the tendon once and then in the process of taking time off and getting back into the gym I just kept furthering the damage until the day it gave loose.

Yep I did have health insurance. Glad I did and i've got short term disability at work so i'll still be getting some money paid to me while i'm out of work for at least the next 6 weeks or so.

awesome

thanks for the update and best of luck

its time to learn form this and move on.

glad you are ok

Thanks bro, yeah i've learned that i've got to make sure i'm not going so hard on the lb. gains in lifting and take some time to let my tendons catch up.

I'll have to get an updated pic when I get the dressings off. I get that done Thursday so I get to see what kind of scar i'm going to have then.

looks brutal, I hope you heal fast

I have to ask, how was your bench technique - did you use the BBing elbows out, high to the chest style or was is a closer grip with elbows in? that is one thing I do NOT want to be doing anytime soon
