Well just had surgery this morning. Everything went great. They went in and attached some hooks to my tendon and ancored those hooks to my arm. I have a checkup in a few days and I guess I will get my rehab instructions and whatever else I need to know then. I'm glad its over with now except it hurts like fuck.

good to hear mate best of luck

awesome that you are sewed back up
a few questions
is their anything to prevent this from happening? or is it nature of the game?
i feel a pain in my shoulder...starting to hurt outside the gym doing routine things.
you think i'm destined for some fucked up injury from bp'ing
i wonder if i should get out of bp'ing entirely :(
and do you have health insurance? what would've happened if you did not?

I think most AAS are not really good for your joints at high doses, although some at low doses have been shown to be beneficial (just something a buddy of mine told me, don't have any studies on hand). But I do know staying away from Winny is a good idea. Other than that, when your on a long cycle, and your strength is shooting up really fast, don't push yourself to the limit, increase reps, and maybe frequency of lifting, but slowly increase that weight. That and I think nice and slow, good form is helpful to avoid injury. The other thing I would say if you want to be really careful is limit the length of your cycles. Maybe do 4 or 5 weeks on then 6-8 weeks off back and forth, so your joints can catch up.

Yeah i had a bit of internal bleeding go all the way down to the elbow but no its not bigger at the elbow that at the shoulder. If you look at the pic right above your post, thats how far the bleeding went. Down to the very lower end of my tricep on the inside and where it reached the elbow.

Well I'm glad its surgery that i'm going thru instead of just hoping it heals on its own. The percentage of abilities after surgery vs it healing on its own is far better. I figure a year from now i'll be back to where I was, but I will not be going as heavy either. Tendons need a lot more time to strenthen up that muscles, so i'm going to have to hold myself back.

Good to hear you are on your way to recovery!

Just when I was getting into a good solid grove again, I tear my pec last night. Was progressing thru my flat bench workout. Warm up with 135, then to 185, then to 225. Next set was to be 265x8. First rep went down paused for a sec or two, then pushed up, no problems, no pain. Second rep I lowered the weight to my chest, paused, pushed maybe 1/2in and wham weight just falls and I feel my pec tear. It was just dead, holy crap did it scare the crap out of me. Thank god there were a few big guys close by that pulled the weight off of me.

It was too late(7pm) to go to a doctors office, so I drove across the street to the urgent care office and after waiting 2hrs finally got to see the doc. What a horrible doc. He didnt even ask me to raise my shirt. He just felt around til i told him where the pain was. After about 2 minutes of him pressing down on different places on my chest he says, yep you probably pulled something or strained a muscle. Here is a script for the pain and some muscle relaxers. Just go home and ice it down, no heat for at least 72hrs. That was it!!! I didnt even see the damage until i got home and finally got my shirt off. Here are the pics

Anyone feel it might benefit me to try some HGH during the coming months of rehab?

looks brutal, I hope you heal fast

I have to ask, how was your bench technique - did you use the BBing elbows out, high to the chest style or was is a closer grip with elbows in? that is one thing I do NOT want to be doing anytime soon

My grip was somewhat close. My grip started about 2 inches out from where the bar is smooth and goes to the "grippy" area. The technique was more of elbows in going down and on the upward motion elbows are still tucked in until about 1/2 way up and then i'd flare them to about a 45 degree angle.

Now I wouldnt worry so much about the way I was lifting the weight, but that I was not listening to my body. I had an issue that kept appearing and I didnt back off the weights. Being on cycle its easy to just keep slapping on the plates and lifting more weight week in and week out. I kept going up in weight and not allowing proper time for my tendons to become strong enough to handle the increased weights. In hind-sight I should have not kept increasing each week as much and increased the reps. I should have kept my weight increases moderate and backed off at the first sign of pain in my chest. Lesson learned.

So just got back from seeing my surgeon and finally getting all the padding and tape ripped off my chest. I've got about 1 1/2"-2" cut across my chest towards my arm. I've got six weeks on "taking it easy" which will be me in a sling. Then after those 6 weeks I will start rehab and he said I should be able to start lifting lightly in about 3 months. So far so good, I only wish I was right handed because that would make life a lot less difficult right now. LOL

Thanks to everyone who chimed in and all the support and "get wells" I really appreciate it. Thanks for making this place feel like home.

What causes this to happen? Not stretching enough before lifting? Nutrition? Going to heavy? Just curious so I can try to avoid this.

Read post #77 that pretty much sums it up. Tendons take a lot longer to become stronger than muscles do. When your on cycle and your muscles are getting stronger at a much higher rate that your tendons, if you keep upping the weight, your tendons are going to become taxed to their limits and tear.
