I can't belevie what some of you are doing to get some good fats in your diet. forget spending money on oil and other supplements and taking down nasty tasting oil, just cook every thing with olive oil like chicken and eggs, eat more fish like salmon (remember fish is also high in protein) and add nuts to your oat meal or what ever else you would enjoy them with. no spending extra cash and it all taste good, and your diet will be primo!:D

Doesnt cooking with the oil destroy the omegas we are after?

yep, heat destroy some (not all) of omega 3s

that's why raw salmon is better than ultra-cooked canned salmon

The dude at Whole Foods yesterday told me that Fish Oil Omega 3's are much more "bio-available" than in Flax.

Didn't get the feeling he was pulling my leg either because the fish oil was cheaper.

The Fish Oil caps I got are only 1gram (10 calories). Should I take 3/day with food? I noticed one serving of flax has 8 grams of omega 3's.

Fish oil is better than flax seed oil as for omega 3s
and liquid is better than pills

Thanks Anthrax....

cooking at low heat will not destroy much if any, it's when it starts to burn that is destroy the omegas, also I pour more on after cooking it, and use olive oil on salad and stuff so I get all the omega.
also canned salmon is nasty just use smoked it's almost raw and tast fine, but can be pricey

i don't see where you guys are coming up with walnut being a good source of omega-3's. hemp oil i believe is third in line after fish oils and flax oil for omega-3 content.

and canola is a good source for monounsaturates, as are almonds, olive oil, macadamia, pecans, peanuts.

as a matter of fact, you can get all the monounsaturates (and omega-6's) from a vast variety of nuts and from olive and canola oils.

omega-3's are gonna have to come from flax, hemp (although it's still mostly omega-6), fish oil (or salmon and some other fatty fish)

this site may be helpful for you guys. i just hope it's accurate.

Oils are certainly the best sources of EFAs

But nuts (walnuts and almonds especially) are also good siurce of good fats and they are more convenient (when you don't eat at home)

And what would you guys say is best: hemp or flax seed oil? I've read hemp has a higher proportion of Omega 6, which is better than Omega 3...

flax is better than hemp oil b/c flax is richer in w3s

Wrong
you already take enough omega 6s
You just need more omega 3s
