WRONG! Where do you get this? i have had to call around before to try to get people into shelters as part of my job. They are very crowded, if not completely full most of the time.

I believe you.. There are twice as many animal shelters than there are women's shelters...What a shame!!

Wow, some really callous people in this thread. Truly, that mom just snapped. Who knows what she was thinking. Maybe the kids were going hungry every night and she saw no way out. Who knows. Best not to judge until you know all the facts and "walk a mile" in her shoes. Saying that the kids are better off dead is just asshole-ish.

desperation as a excuse to point blank kill your kids?
nah that is weakness and mental unstability...lotsa people are desperate, very few are killing their kids.

INstability? Huh, that's what I said. Weakness, yes. It doesn't justify it, but it does make it sad.
Many people are under tremendous stress. Most handle it, at least externally, while they age prematurely and live unhappily and unhealthily. Others can't handle it. They break down. They go insane. They become depressed, they commit suicide, whatever. It's all sad.

Both kids in critical condition.

Both died... it's a damn shame both kids had to pay for their mom's instability, they could have been fostered somewhere and maybe even had a nice life.

Yeah I hear what you are saying, but its hard to understand the actions of a sick mind. In many cases, the mom is fearing for the kids future, and can't bear to leave them alone. They are hungry and sad, and if she kills herself she imagines things just getting even worse for the kids. It's a "take them out of their misery" mentality.
Again, not justifying it; it was wrong. But I still see it as sad that any human being would be in such mental turmoil to make such a horrible decision.
