I think I have gallstones.

Has anyone had them. It burns really bad in my upper right abdomen just under the ribs. I'm nauseated. This has been going on during my pregnancy only. Two doctors now tell me that I have bruised ribs from the baby, but I don't think that is right. This doesn't feel like it is on the rib.

Plus, I'm native american and pregnant, both of which are big risk factors for gallstones.

I was not overweight before getting pregnant, though. Although, my dad had his out, and he wasn't fat either.

Anyone ever had their gallbladder removed? Do my symptoms sound like the gallbladder. DAMN IT HURTS BAD!

Is there anything that can get rid of them or can they go away without surgery?

My mom had em. she had her gall bladder removed due to too many. She was doubled over and could not bear the pain..
They have a certain blood test that they run, you should ask your dr just for reassurance to order one for you.
It could most likely be your ribs from the baby..But if you are really concerned than get it checked out.

yeah, next appt I'm going to insist on the bloodwork. It hurts so bad that I spend most of my time trying to sleep through the pain. I can't sit up long

hey heather,

some foods that help with the stone pain are

pears
parsnips
seaweed
lemons
limes
and the spice turmeric
chamomile tea a day.

also i have a cleanse that you may want to try ( with foods)

You are just eating too many cheezeburgers.

Yes, that pain sounds familiar. Mine was more around the back, and it wasn't intense but it was very unsettling; it had an "unclean" feel to it and made it almost impossible to sleep.

The doc had an ultrasound done and the stones were visible -- that makes the diagnosis simple. Laparoscopic ("bandaid") surgery, and I actually drove myself home from the hospital (*not* recommended, but hey, it worked). Had a little issue with fatty food afterward but it's been over ten years now and I hardly miss the little sucker any more.

Good luck, and talk to your doctor sooner rather than later. No point in suffering and it has to be attended to sooner or later.

the wife had the same pains. they told her it was the baby pressing against that side all the time. well they said it was his foot pressing against it. but once our son was born it went away.

i had them and had emergency removal.
the pain was in my stomach, but not specific to a certain spot, and i had back/shoulder pain, sweats, and a kind of nausea.

gallstone pain isn't usually specific to a spot, but more general.
