At what age should people stop the following:

Smoking pot apparently never, but I don't so doesn't matter
Playing video games we gotta stop?
Going to arcades for awhile, but then your kids want to go
Going to raves when the babes stop lookin at you gramps
Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol why stop? MORE
Reading comic books when they are no longer comics?
Playing with toys NEVER, the toys just get better

True. Or put the action figures up higher?
It really went beyond that point ... we're not talking about one or two star trek figures ... this stuff occupied serious amounts of space.

The issue was that he felt it was okay to spend between $20 and $50 a week on "collectible" stuff (comics, figures, bball cards, etc.) but wouldn't put that in a savings account, college fund, etc.

I'm not a bible thumper but I really do sort of throw in with scripture on this point ... "when I was a child, I thought as a child. When I became a man I put away childish things." R&R is fine, but not before you've taken care of real world stuff. The man once actually told me he'd rather buy a new video game than take me out to dinner, because he'd HAVE the video game the next day :baby2: (and yet he blames ME for the divorce, go figure!)

Look, my son is in the service and lives in a dorm on base, is single, has very little living expenses. He makes about $600 net every 2 weeks, and spends EVERY damn dime (except $250 a month into his savings account) on video games, DVDs, comics, etc. That's fine. Do it now, get it out of your system. When you have to worry about someone else's butt, you stop being selfish about how you spend your time and money, that's what I'm trying to say.

If that sounds sharp or bitchy I don't mean it to, just giving my opinion

dang, that's cold...I'd call a woman "husky", but I'd still take her to dinner rather then play video games...:)

Thank you, it hurt very bad once and 14 years later I'm embarassed to admit it still bugs me a little ... thanks, I'm totally serious :bigkiss:

And that is why you will fare better in your life than he will in his ;)

Face it, a husky woman KNOWS she's husky (a rose by any other name and all that sh*t), the truth is, it's not so much WHAT is said but HOW it's said.

But NOBODY wants to feel they aren't as valuable as Nintendo, and maybe that's the answer, the toys and R&R can't be more valuable in a life than the people you're supposed to be making a life WITH.
