hitting a new PR in deadlifting

Excerpt: I'm bulking right now after cutting down about 20 pounds and a lot of my strength went away. i bulked back up and i've been able to set a new PR in deadlifting. I hit 550 for 1 after doing 8 sets of 5 after a lower weight. I hit 430 for 5 sets and felt light so i decided to go for it. when do you think i should try and hit a new PR?

    trying to hit 1 rep PR's is something that you should only do in an actual competition. it isn't something you do just for an ego trip. you want to stick to 3-5 reps even on heavy lifts

    I don't go for any PRs ever now. Too risky as an injury can put you out for a while.

    Thsts your call but I'd reserve one rep maxes for special occasions and sparingly. Maybe once every 6 weeks or so

    i wouldn’t try to 1 rep PR deadlift, try 3-5 rep PRing on deadlift. don’t push too hard with heavy weight on deadlift..
