My wife who works for the USPS, was attacked by 2 boxers a few weeks ago. She was covering someone else route when she delivered mail to a house, and as she was walking to the next house to large boxers came running from the back of the house and knocked her down and bite her multiple times. She ended up throwing her mail bag at them and one ran away. The other one just stayed there waiting for her to do make a move. It ended up running back to the back of the house where the other dog ran.

She went to the ER, and they fixed her up the best they could. Her left leg had about a 5" laceration that was pretty deep. As well as 4 different puncture wounds around her knee. Her right leg got about a 2 1/2" laceration above the ankle that was also pretty deep, and a bunch of surface cuts and punture wounds.

She is doing okay, but the 2 lacerations are going to leave some unsightly scars.

The USPS is suing the homeowners to recoupe medical expenses, and she has to go to court here in a few weeks (i think).

My question is, Should we get a lawyer and sue the homeonwners (or their insurance) for damages? What would you do?

Hell yeah. If you own pets that are dangerous, you need to be responsible. I hate litigious people but getting attacked by animals while doing your job is a little different from spilling coffee in your lap.

sue the homeowners FOR SURE; make some loot, and ensure that they properly restrain their dogs. Imagine if that had been a litle kid instead of a grown woman; badnewsbears. Ugh I am getting pissed off just thinking about this; two shitty ass dog owners just douching their way through life not caring about other peoples' safety

wouldn't the USPS take care of the law suit for you?

We have spoke with the USPS and they said to definetly sue.

They also said they would sue for us, but they aren't in it for monetary gain, so they basically won't fight over money. Though they will give us whatever was awarded.

Here's the worst part.

I know the owners of the dogs. I used to be really good friends with their oldest son. What really pisses me off is they know that their dogs attacked my wife whom they also know, and yet the don't aknowledge us. No appology...nothing!

We have seen them around town in restaurants, and in stores, and they act like they don't even know us. That is what really chaps my ass!!!
