Kayne... we are all skeptical that he could REALLY do this stuff. What made him interesting is that he could make it APPEAR that he did this stuff. THAT'S INCREDIBLE offered several theories to the "levitation" stuff... and I saw a couple articles afterwards debating how he could have made it look like he could levitate objects. Regarding him stabbing himself... I have no doubt about that... the inmate that described it to me was a straight shooter and thought Hedrick was a "Nut." (The stabbing and slashing incidents appear to have been common too. He had a couple deep scars on his arm in the pictures I saw of him. It also illustrates that he was not completely emotionally stable.) The martial arts stuff was well documented... and a couple of the kung fu mags at teh time ran articles on him. (The article I saw in INSIDE KUNG FU showed him making an incredible leaping kick next to a basketball hoop to demonstrate how high he could get his foot.) Regarding him "leaving" his cell... it was well documented... but since I didn't see his cell (air vents? wide bars? etc...) I don't take it as gospel that it would hold him. The inmate that I knew said Hedrick did it a number of times... leading to questioning of orderlies (did they help him?) and other inmates (did they help him?) and even guards (could they have helped him?) My person theory is that the Utah prison was an older prison. Hedrick had shown the ability to ignore pain and do nutty stuff. If he was small enough and could dislocate his shoulders (which some people can) maybe that is how he got out... simply squeezing through.

I don't remember the details of his crime... but it wasn't anything serious like murder. He had a 10 year sentence... and I vaguely think it was for some kind of robbery or burglary. If INSIDE KUNG FU magazine archives their old issues it may be possible to do a search. (I already tried to do a search for THAT'S INCREDIBLE... but I didn't get any hits.)

Bottom line... however he did the stuff he did... he was an interesting character.

I love prison shows.

Saw this one fucker think he was native american, all he wanted to do was fight...and if he got charged up it would take several well armed gaurds to subdue him.

He beat several inmates to near death. One question, these guys are always jacked, do they still let them train knowing they are so voilent...or do they just do basic movements in their cell.

i know this one person guard and he is a sgt. and he is like 5'7 and around 350lbs-400lbs and this guy is so strong that it would amaze you. he told me that there are guys who would put most pro bb to shame and i believe him because i visited the place where he works and these guys aren't men, they are beasts. maybe we should land ourselves in jail for 3 years and come out and compete in the olympia.
