Yeah, respect. I didnt say admiration or fame. You need to see it to really see what I'm talking about. How dangerous can ONE man be to deserve that kind of treatment?

The prison system obviously respects his ability to kill or attack someone by any means available.

I wouldn't consider the method(s) of restraint descibed as "the prison system respecting this individual" regardless of how extreme they may have been. Speaking from an ignorant perspective here (thankfully), I would suggest it is/was probably more a matter of required procedure based on the persons violent history coupled with erring on the side of caution. Probably a little bit of "you wanna be a dick? OK, we'll treat you like a dick" attitude tossed-in as well. My point, I believe this would be more of a formality versus "the system" (or any individuals) respecting this person's ability. Of course, I could just be hung-up on the association of this type of person and the word "respect."
