there are itinerants here that are such recalcitrant drunks that they arent even bothered by the police anymore. they just have indiginous police officers making sure that theyre in the same public spot and not assaulting anyone while theyre drunk. or at least, not assaulting anyone with anything that will cause too much damage.

not to steal your thunder or anything, but seeing someone drink methylated spirits kind of makes you think you have a right to tell a story

I feel a bit sorry for him. Ok, I think we've established that he's got a slight drinking problem (who doesn't like to get sloshed now and again) but he's not violent and in my eyes he's not a criminal.
