Just make sure you're not burning. That's what has the worst effect on your skin. That and the HP tanning units. So avoid both and you'll be good to go!

Yep. No burning, just browning. And no more HP booths either. I think my salon owner must be getting lessons from the Gotti's.

I'm 35 - been tanning since I was 14-15 y/o. I abused tanning when I was younger, but have been taking some serious care of my skin since I started my business 3 years ago. People guess my age around 25-28. This is with YEARS of tanning, so since you're starting so young - you're going to be one FINE old guy!!! lol

Well thank you SG! I'm not that young though. 27 been tanning fairly regularly since I was 19. But I still pass as 21 from the neck up. Got carded a few weeks ago by a bald bartender who was one year younger than me. Yes it made my day.

"High Pressure units are primarily UVA, which mostly browns (but CAN burn). UVB is the burning ray. UVA goes down to the 3rd layer of skin, that's why the tan lasts longer - HOWEVER - it's also the ray responsible for those deep leathery wrinkles. I would rather see you use a low pressure bed (the tube lamps) than an HP bed. Just don't burn! That's INSTANT skin damage - and can cause abnormal cells (basal and squamous)."
