Just Incline-benched 315 on the smith, question?

OK so I've done 2 sets of one rep with 315lb and then 13 reps with 245lb.

(that's a 30 degree incline)

How respectable is this? Are smith machine lifts any good?

How much weight above your normal poundage does the smith add to your press?

What R you guys pressing on the smith compared to your regular incline press?

Most smith machines are counterweighted by about 30 pounds, so subtract that and maybe a few extra pounds for not having to stabilize it. I probaly incline about 15% more on a smith machine than on reg. bb press.

Yeah, this one not counter-weighted (i checked first). It says that just the bar is 45lbs.

My regular 30 deg bench is 245 for 7 so I figured that the smith must have helped me in some way do 245 for 13.

bro its not how much you lift compared to someone else, its how much you lift compared to your abilities. as long as you're making progress with your lifts, and getting size, thats what matters

Training forum says HI :wavey:

I don't know. I can pretty much do about the same amount of weight on a reg bench versus Smith Machine. Should be different? But oh well.

315 is still a heavy weight..........keep up the good work

All true, but using smith is great. Mix it up and lift hard regardless of the equip. three plates on each side for incline feels good dudin' it?

Ahhh yeesss... I can still remember a time when my shoulders and rotator cuffs would allow me to bench like that. I miss those days.

Well said, I do my lifting in a home gym and the Smith is great without a spot. I still do regular bench press to keep my stabilizers up and the feel in tact...but when I go heavy, I go to the Smith. Mine is not counter weighted and the bar weighs 30 lb. So just keep pressing and keep adding weight, you will still grow on a Smith!

Congats bro!
