how many work hours do you average a week?

I worked nearly 4,000 hours last year so whatever that averages out to be.

Most I've worked in one week is 130 hrs.

Longest continuous shift 96hrs.

Ah, you see, that's the trap. It's a lie. The meds make you THINK you don't give a shit, you THINK everything is okay, you think you're handling it.

I was on stress meds once upon a time too. When you are living a life that requires you to be on stress meds to function you are walking a very dangerous line. I DESTROYED my own health, literally. I'm only just starting to get it back, after nearly 10 years. All due to stress.

i refuse to work hours like that unless in short stints for great money

i know too many greek men who have worked like dogs their whole lives (7am-5pm 6 days a week) and who are FINALLY set up (house/cars/flats/units paid off, passive income of 1.5 the national salary average) and....theyre in their 50s having heart attacks and dying

Damn, you averaged 76.92 hrs. a week! I've been working 46-60 for the last few months, but at $25 a hour I won't bitch...

Not just Greeks honey. Anybody works 10/12 hours a day, six days a week for 30+ years, they're gonna be real busy, have a short life and have no need to worry about a pesky, boring LOOONNNNG retirement.

oh of course. its just that the building industry here is dominated by greeks (which i find funny, because the sleazy shirtless greeks whistling from construction sites go out on the weekend and pick up the very same girls ) and theyre regularly the ones working those sorts of hours that im exposed to (and privy to their financials )

its really sad though, because lots of those men are my relatives - theyve been alive for such a long time and never really lived...except for those few 3 month long trips back to their home island
