When a cop shoots someone in the US, there are known rules for escalation of force. If it's found unwarranted the officer is subject to dismissal and prosecution in the US. I'm not sure where that is considered acceptable use of lethal force in the US for someone who has comitted assault. I would be willing to bet that shooting them as they're fleeing is not acceptable.

I'll remember not to speed in Germany. And I find it interesting that they would consider shooting/killing someone acceptable if you're not a direct threat.

In this scenario, the guy would have been shot anyway everywhere in the US. Even in Cali. He was an imminent threat for the security guard and others and the use of lethal force could reasonably be justified for protecting herself and others from death or grievous bodily harm. People like that get shot every week in the US. And because someone is in a car doesn't mean he's running away. The car in this situation could have also been considered has a weapon.

It is not uncommon to shoot a car in America. Maybe not like the german scenario but when the felon has just commited a serious crime and the LEO have reasons to believe he could hurt other people, then the car could be considered as a weapon. Also, failure to comply after committing a crime on a LEO is a good enough reason to use your handgun. We were thought to use lethal force to stop a fleeing felon unless the risk of hitting a civilian was serious enough.

And btw I doubt a cop would be dismissed for that in the US. Most PDs down south have unions right ?

I don't go around beating people, however if Im given a serious reason to, if someone attacks me or someone I care about, all bets are off. Im not violent by nature but I do hold the belief that these MOTHERFUCKERS lost their right to humanity once they chose the path of evil. this lady went and shot him once she had the chance. she did not come back later with her crew to kill the guy. she killed the guy the first chance she got, while he was still at the scene of the crime.
