Crossfit

Any of you guys do this? There is a personal training studio that I joined and they have a crossfit class which I love. I also do the workout of the day when it's not a heavy lifting day
 
I like the workouts so far. I have never thrown up lifting before until I did my 1st crossfit class. I never blew chunks but did dry heave

Crossfit is an outstanding outlet for guys who've given up on heavy weight.

I hurniated discs in my lower back a few years ago. Most of the heavy stuff with these workouts are squats and deads which I'm not willing to go heavy. I'm 30 just want to get in shape.
 
My workout today

10 push ups
5 dead lifts @ 135
45 second sprint
12 pull ups
24 jump ropes

I did 10 rounds with 1 minute break between rounds. This is not exactly easy

That's a great workout for overall fitness. But you'll get no respect from the guys training to be monsters.

I've known UT students who would crush-up oxys and blend it with cocaine, then snort the mixture.

Interesting comment given that you can go to crossfit.com and find 175 lb men that crush you on heavy weight. Then they'll go run. Then they'll come back and immediately crush you again on weight while you're still recovering from ur first lift. Eventually crossfit becomes moving very heavy weight for a lot of reps over longer and longer durations. Don't take my word for it, go get yourself involved in a combat art and see how quickly your strength fades when you're fighting another man. Resting 5 minutes inbetween sets may make your ego feel good but it is functionally useless strength. Once again your understanding of a subject is woefully inept.
 
So what I know a few 135lb guys that could kick your and my ass. So fucking what?

I have a crossfitter friend that's 6'3" maybe 210 lbs and he absolutely wrecks people much bigger than him in their lifts. Ngr doesn't take a break in between sets either. He'll do deads, straight to pullups, then run ladders with a mask on so he's fighting for more oxygen. I'd rather be in shape like that than all bloated with bacne. Most guys I know that are very into bb workouts are shitty athletes too. They look all big and in pretty good shape, but you get them out playing flag football or some shit and they can't do a damn thing.

crossfit ain't for me. I like to run in a gym, anytime I want and get out 20 mins later. None of this yelling, $150/month, injuring yourself and women peeing on the floor garbage.

Gyms will still be here long after this crossfit fad is long gone.

People I know that regularly do crossfit exercises are quite a bit stronger overall than others I know that just lift. They tend to look much better too as long as they either do the paleo thing, or eat clean while they do it.

First, I mean this just doesn't make any sense you muppet. Clean it up. Second, the fuck are you talking about ugly ho's? The ratio of hot chicks to ugly chicks is roughly the same in a crossfit gym as anywhere else. It's really not why you go there though, nobody looks good passed out on the floor ready to puke after a wkt.

20 db touch ground n up to sky w 1 arm

This sucked but I did it

I love gyms and only do class 2-3 times a week and the rest of the time I'm in a gym

10 situp
10 pushups

takes a lil over 11 minutes. Nice lil quickie.

Canadian military is getting into crossfit now, or at least their version of it.

That makes perfect sense. I'm guessing the pilot program was done in Quebec, just so they could also tap into the fierce fighting resolve of the French as well.

I haven't tried them on rings, which is what gymnasts use, but I've been told it's easier than doing them on a pullup bar.

yes, rings allow you to bring your hands down your center line before you explode onto your triceps. On a pullup bar, you basically have to do a pullup so hard that your momentum carry's you up over the bar. That is an extremely advanced maneuver. There's probably only a very small percentage of even professional athletes that can do that.

like who? I've asked a lot of people around the gyms I go to (3 in total) to do it or see if they can do it because I really want to learn it, I've only seen one guy do it and he was a crossfitter.

no one here could do that. A 250lb thr is sick enough as it is, and I know Rob Orlando so I know it's a legit deep squat he's doing. But 20 reps at 250lbs in 16 minutes is offplanet. But wait it's not done, in the same time period to throw in 20 reps of 450lb dl's? Hey Plunkey..what was that you said?

I don't need to glamorize crossfit, the results speak for themselves, not just for me but the hordes of people who have gotten stronger and fitter from doing crossfit style workouts.

1) made me stronger
2) better conditioned
3) increased the duration of my strength

for me at least, it's good in doses. After awhile it gets annoying. I use it as change of pace. Everything gets boring after awhile. But as for functional training it really doesn't get better than crossfit.

Seems hard as fuck but I hate routines and I just like doing what I feel like doing haha
