Creepy or Normal?

It's not creepy at all, it's not like they're doing anything wrong.

My stepdaughter is on the more mild end of the spectrum, so she has major problems with initial contact, but once she warms up to you she can be very social. In fact, she craves social contact more than I do, which makes her situation all the more sad. It's extremely difficult for her to make friends, and yet she wants friends.

Now me, I'm no help, I'm naturally a recluse, I don't care whether I have any social contact as long as I have my husband.

Awwww!! I knew you were just a big sweetheart!

Yeah I wouldn't trust bf with step daughter, he sounds creepy. It's not like they are living together, in the same bedroom, in the same bed. Now that would be creepy.

how did he get so much fucking money?

what if i have this disease how do i get tested
It's not a disease. I like the term people who have autism spectrum disorders call people who AREN'T on the spectrum: NT or "Neuro Typical."

It's about brain function, how information is processed. It's suspected that some of the greatest creative minds throughout history have been on the autism spectrum, because these people have near laser-like focus, their mind process information about the subject that consumes their interest faster and more efficiently than any computer. The list of people who are suspected to be on the spectrum is a Who's Who of Human History: Beethoven, Mozart, Einstein, Warhol, Asimov, Franklin, Jefferson, Jung ...

In the most loose of terms, Asperger's primarily has to do with socialization and focus of interest.

For example, when my stepdaughter was very young (kindergarten/first grade) her sole interest was dinosaurs. She could recite facts about dinosaurs almost verbatim from the books that left adults with their mouths hanging open. It was like the kid swallowed the dinosaur encyclopedia.

And in school and she couldn't get along with the other children, she exploded completely inappropriately, growling, biting and finally hiding under a desk, curled in a fetal position, sucking her thumb.

Unfortunately, she was born about five years too early, her condition went under the radar and she slipped through the cracks. She was diagnosed as having ADD and being depressed. The papers describing Asperger's didn't hit N. America until the early 90s. If she had been born a little later things would have been different for her. As it was, she wasn't diagnosed until 2 years ago.
