Car Question

Actually those replacement parts are dick cheap. Just type "used car part finder" or somesuch into any search engine and you'll find several sites dedicated to used car part searches.

If that trans is a manual, a used (with shipping) might be $350, radiater cheaper still.

Dude seriously, when it comes to old used cars, better the demon you know. This car's history you know. Another used car is a total unknown quantity and I don't give a crap if it is a honda or whatever. If it's been shit on it could be trouble waiting to happen.

Now all of this assumes there's someone around who has the interest and time to do the work. I could do all that work singlehanded in a weekend easy, but others may not even want to try it.

What she said. :rose:

in before the standard C&C response: tell her to buy a one owner, low mileage, Civic/Corolla

Do that... I don't know much of anything about Neons, but I can say that you can't go wrong with a 7-10 year old Toyota. One of mine; a '79 4x4, is still fine. The odometer broke in 1995 when it had 293,000 miles.

you can get used parts from a junkyard for a deal but you never know how long they are gonna last. those cars are a dime a dozen so parts should be very easy to get and cheap as well.

she'll have to drop 4-5K for a somewhat decent used car

if her step dad can fix it for $200, I would give that a shot.

$200 bet - payoff could be worth it.....could drive it for a couple more years, save more money.....
