calculating meals vs. eating lots and workin hard

I get a lot of each from people...

Should I carry around a notepad/pen and keep track of my calories/protien/carbs etc, or should I just eat as much high protien foods as i can and hit the weights like crazy? I've started eating fresh pb, good amount of tuna, and other meats.

I'm 17 and trying to bulk up (currently 165-170lbs). I don't want to gain tons of fat, but right now my main focus is putting on pounds of muscle.

Taking 2 - 22g scoops of whey and 1tbsp flax after work out. Still trying to get my hands on some casein for before bed.
