Ashcroft turns 2ND AMENDMENT on its head, argues for personal right to bear arms

LMAO... look at my previous posts, I said something similar.... inanimate objects (cars, guns, hammers, etc) are NOT capable of arbitrarily killing people.... I see where you're going aurelius, and if you're going where I think you're going, then you're absolutely right..... lol

A car is not designed to kill.

True enough, BUT ddt has no real benefit, and as far as atom bombs go, treaties are designed to stop a maniac from just pushing the button and killing millions of people for nothing... We're talking about completely different levels of destruction now...

DDT worked quite well, actually.

Of course the magnitude of destruction is different but so are people's attitudes about the amount of gun violence in this country. To you the tradeoff (for feeling safe) is worthwhile. To me and many other Americans, it's not.

This will most likely piss most of you off, but then again most of you are narrow-minded idiots anyway. Just one statement, not gonna argue it out. Our country would be way better off with much stricter gun laws, or no guns at all.

UGH?!?!?! my whole point is, that outlawing guns will NOT stop gun related crimes.... Time and time again, I say that people who obtain guns legally, are NOT THE ONES COMMITTING CRIMES WITH THEM!!!! HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Yo. NObody's saying gun control will eliminate gun crime. We're wondering if it won't reduce it substantially.

Wait. I've got it:

"Guns don't kill people. People with guns kill people."

Better? :)

LMAO, I like that one.... BUT only one flaw with that saying, the law-abiding people that own guns and use them properly do NOT run around arbitrarily killing people..... it would be better this way....

"guns don't kill people. Criminals with guns kill people."

There you go, the happy medium...lol

Alas, you are wrong, because many of the gun deaths are acts of passion whose committal makes the person a criminal -- not his behavior beforehand. Plus, the huge number of suicides are not committed by criminals.

I'm afraid my motto is the more, um, inclusive.

and what I'm saying is it won't reduce it AT ALL because, as I keep saying, the people committing the crimes aren't obeying the gun "control" laws in the first place....

Here's a possible solution.... how about stiffer penalties for people that commit crimes involving guns???? If we concentrate on that instead of trying to regulate people who already obey the law, maybe we might get somewhere.....

Sorry, but even NY's experience demonstrates that stricter gun control and enforcement can have a huge effect on the incidence of gun deaths. Yes, the 500 (down from 1700) are by people who largely own guns illegally.

If you don't think that kind of decrease warrants strict gun control, we really just have to call our difference philosophical. You want the individual right to own a gun. I want guns outlawed for the good of society. I quite understand that is scary to people who feel they need a gun to protect themselves.
